I picked this up from a gentleman on Etsy - Doug Smith. Gives warm lather for the shave. He creates beautiful shave scuttles/bowls; reasonably priced; great shipping. If you are in the market, I recommend you give Doug's pottery a look.

Beautiful brush scuttle. This potter does excellent work. Very similar to Dirtybirdpottery.

A word of personal advice about this type of scuttle- be very careful picking up a larger brush that fits well down in that reservoir. I had a Chubby 2 that between it and the lather, created a suction that allowed the inner bowl to lift up about 3" until the brush/lather suction let loose. Needless to say I had a 2 day old DB travel scuttle with a nice busted lip.

Agreed. In that regard, find it safer to use a longer handled brush on scuttles like this. (The handle on my favorite bowl lathering brush is just under 100mm long.) I find the long handle gives bit more leverage so when the brush does get caught, you have enough to work with to gently work it free without breaking something.

Beautiful scuttle, btw.

I always bowl lathered. Got a bowl and brush scuttle from Dirtybird and onlu used the bowl. The scuttle was just sitting there for over a month unused. Decided one day to see what the warm lather hype was all about and started useing it. Fell in love and have been face lathering since.

Nice looking piece you have. Enjoy it!

That's a beautiful brush scuttle, Ed. I had one of Doug's regular scuttle, a fairly small one, and unfortunately it did not maintain heat as well as my DBs or GPs, so I ended up selling it. I hope your brush scuttle functions better.
