Has anyone tried the new Polsilver Super Iridium?

[attachment=2247]

It replaces the Polsilver (pictured below).

I received a couple of blades today and am looking forward to giving them a try.

In the interim I'm keen to hear of anyone else's experiences with them.

Which ones?

The Polsiver Super Iridium I get through a contact in Spain. He used to be able to get the Polsilver, but not any more. I saw an online vendor that still had stock of the Polsilver the other day (I can search my internet browser history if required).

I'll be interested in hearing reports on these blades as well. Are they the old Polsilver blade in a new package or an entirely new blade? And what about the Super Iridium branding? Is the new blade the SI (one of my favorite blades) in a new package or are they using the name for marketing purposes only?

I have some of these new ones. Alas, I have not tried them yet. After SE May I'll try one in my slant to see how it compares to my favorite, Voskhod.

Supposedly the new Polsilver is the beloved Super Iridium repackaged. Even if it is and I try one I'm sure my mind will play tricks on me and think it's not the same as SI which is my top blade.

I have the new Polsilvers/SI baldes. Got 100 of them recently.

SI are my favorite blades. A perfect blend of sharpness and comfort for me. In short, I don't notice any difference between the vintage SI and the new SI/Polsilvers.

The two blades also look identical all the way down to the darned frisbie sized wax spots on the blade.

Yes, I've tried them. They are among the very few top blade picks of mine.

I do believe my packs came from the same gent in Spain. I think the only reason I didn't order them was because of the price. Well, and becasue I really don't need anymore DE blades.

Ben, those are interesting and I hadn't seen them before. I quite liked the original Super Iridiums but did not care for the Polsilvers at all. I'll be curious to know your thoughts on these new blades when you get to try them.

I'll be interested too. I like Super Iridiums a lot, but I didn't really like the Polsilvers as much.

You realize this is internet marketing...remove the favorite blade (SI) ..bring out exclusive high priced..hard to get..POLSILVER....remove POLSILVER.. then bring out a new hybrid PS/SI and say....look we combined the best features of both...hard to get..expensive and won,t be around long..buy now..before the are gone...so sad..they must think we are idiots !!!!!Don,t buy them just because of that and show them internet "we are wise to you "::TongueAngry

I have used them and really like them. You can see that they landed high on my testing scale on absolute performance, but when you factor in the price and availability, they drop down in measure. I have plenty of razor blades in stock so I do not seek those out. Another reason is because of the hassle of Gillette repeatedly changing the manufacturing and distribution of these blades.

I agree. I couldn't tell the difference between the vintage SI and these new Polsilver/SI. Both great blades.

The vintage/original SI usually come from Emilio in Spain. These new ones come from Canada.

Where they come from is a matter of logistics. The brand name is one and the same 'trade mark'. I'm sorry, but IMHO, this company has been playing with their marketing for quite some time now. I really doubt that they are really re-engineering all their equipment this often.

To me, the original Polsilver, SI and the P/SI are produced with the same engineering and equipment.

JMHO

They're all a great blade.

eta: The 'new' Polsilver/Super Iridium really isn't new.

I'm very much interested in these.

Where can they be bought? How much do they cost?
