I am really thinking about picking up a new ikon razor. I am unsure as to which one I want. I am wondering if anyone can help me narrow down the selection.

I'm thinking the Standard but would like to hear your thoughts. Would that be a good place to start with the standard head? Is it aggressive? I have never tried an OC razor so I am unsure what to expect there. I should point out I have a thick beard that's not easy to cut through... and I would like the Smoothest Ikon Razor there is.

Thanks!

I have never used a Slant in my life. I don't know how that would be and its quite a big gamble to find out! haha

Yeah, The standard does look pretty aggressive for a closed comb razor.

Thanks for the info Triad!

The Open Comb Deluxe has my vote. It's easy, effective and smooth.
However, the Standard is actually now my preferred of the two, it's still comfortable, but even more efficient.
I've tried both the gen 1 and gen 2 Slant and although I find the DLC an improvement over the original, I'm still not a huge fan.

Thanks Ben for the detailed info there! I am starting to think that an OSS might be a good option as well since they both have their pros.. but if I had to choose just between the OC and the Standard, I think I would lean more towards the Standard.

Sorry to step in but I will benefit from these suggestions too, I'm using a shavecraft 101 and would like to get another ikon as I like the quality. Actually I'm looking forward to seeing the S3S.

How do you like the Shavecraft 101? Its definitely a much cheaper alternative for me. I really would like to experience a DLC though so it makes my decisions ever harder lol

I hava a relatively sensitive skin and thin stubble (sorry i couldnt find te suitable word) I own an aristocrat, job, gillette new, gillette tech ball end, parat etc. But i rate the shavecraft on top of them. It really gives a smooth shave for my problematic neck area as being not aggressive.

The quality and the shaves led me to get another high quality item, otherwise shavecraft does the job well. If you like to try an ikon, i recommend you start with a shavecraft as its a cheaper alternative.

The OSS or Standard, both great razors.

OSS is enjoyed by many, but for MY tastes it is far too mild. The ShaveCraft 101 is more effective and certainly a thrifty investment, but still overall relatively mild. As for the OC, IMO it is more forgiving than the Standard, but if you want the best iKon DE to date in terms of efficiency you can't go past the Standard.

What are you using now?

Without a doubt the standard bar in DLC finish or stainless is the best shaver out of all the iKon razors I have tried. But I am not selling any of my other iKons and continue to keep them in daily rotation.

I own two iKons, the OSS and the Shavecraft 101.

The open comb side of the OSS does a wonderful job. However, the safety bar side is so mild that it simply does not give me a close shave (and I have tried a variety of blades in it). Therefore, I only get to use one side of the razor. I do not have a very heavy beard, either.

The Shavecraft 101 is definitely the better of the two razors for me. Although it has different shaving designs on each side of the head, both do an admirable job for me and give me a close non irritating shave.

Good luck on your final decision, whatever it is.

The iKon Standard in DLC is my favorite, but I like the OC and Slant as well. The Standard is the most efficient by a long shot...

Wow thanks to everyone for the amazing Responses! I feel that the Standard is my best bet if I want a DLC but price wise the Shave Craft seems like a nice option.

Currently I am just using a regular DE89 Head on my Weber Handle. I have a very tough time cutting through my beard with this head and its not giving me the close shave I desire. I am finally fed up with 89's performance (for my hair type) and I am wanting to broaden my Horizons and get an Ikon since I hear great things. I don't like the price points of this razor but if its as good as I hear, It will be well worth it!

I really would love to shave my face daily with a DE but the results keep me going back to my Electric. I do however shave my neck daily and I'm happy with the results there. I have thick, tough hair and need something that is going to mow right through it but still be smooth and comfortable.

So I have been doing a fair amount of Research on Slants and I am starting to think this may be what I need. Problem is the Price!! Is there anyone out there that has used an Ikon Slant and didn't like the shave?
