I don't know how I am going to lift this razor to shave as it weighs a whopping 6.3 oz (180 grams) but hopefully it will work. The head is chrome over zinc. The length of the handle is 90 mm.

I should have it by the weekend. The handle itself weighs 150 grams so heavy is the word.

I never knew Maggards had a SS razor. I sorta gave up looking at razors there . They were always sold out. Hmmm I'll give them a look

Just to clarify its only the handle that is stainless steel. The head is zinc & chrome plated. At last count they had 64 in stock.

this razor is selling for $25. i think ss handle alone ( 150 gms ) is worth the price, head you are getting for free Smile
just curious .... how the balance of the razor goes.

Did a three pass shave this morning with outstanding results. Although the razor is very heavy I had no problem light touching my shaves to a smooth BBS result. The Gillette Super Thin is an excellent blade and I highly recommend it. The grip on the MR8 is a real plus using such a heavy razor and the head although chromed had zero flaws.

I have the MR6, which until this razor was the heaviest Maggard offered. It's well made, well plated, and shaves wonderfully. Not a mild razor, not overly aggressive; just the right blend.
The MR8 looks great!

It appears Maggard ran out of these razors this morning but just added 99 more in stock. This is certainly a hot item.

I picked up a MR8 just for that sweet SS handle. I had wanted a big heavy handle like a UFO but couldn't justify spending that much on a handle and I'm glad I waited! It came a couple of days ago and I've shaved with it twice now. The head it came with gave me a nice smooth shave and I got identical results with an R89 this morning. I will be trying it out with my Cadet OC and R41 heads once I get used to the size. It has been a little unwieldy for me as I'm used to my Weber Bulldog.
I took a couple of pics in comparison with the Weber Bulldog in case anyone wants to see the size:

Side by side

From above to show the difference in diameter

And trying to show the knurling

This 180g beast is really quality for the price. Only differences are that the Weber is finished a little nicer and has grippier knurling. I'm definitely happy with it.

I also bought one that arrived on Monday. Absolutely love the size and heft of the handle. Good finish and knurling. Have used it all week with a GSB and have been rewarded with easy BBS shaves. Bought 3 (!) more!
