I've been involved in a couple other forums for a while now but only recently looked into TSN. After looking around a bit, I decided that I wanted to be involved. Looks like some friendly and helpful folks around here so I thought I would say hi. Wave1

Don't get me wrong, the other site I am mostly involved with is amazing in its own right. I just think the people here can help me expand my horizons. After all, one can never have too many resources, right?

So, I've been DE shaving for quite some time now and for some reason, I made the mistake of trying out straights. It turns out that was either a mistake or a breakthrough, I'm not quite sure which one yet. On one hand, just as I thought I was over my DE-RAD, I discovered that there was a whole new world to explore. On the other hand, even though a DE gave me what I thought was the best shave of my life, I had no idea it could get better. For me, straights are proving to be more truly BBS. I suppose that continuing to explore DE’s could get me even closer still.

I am very much enjoying the vintage razors, both DE and SR. I am enjoying cleaning them up and am just now learning to properly hone but have a ways to go yet. I have several Gillettes, Gems, Ever Ready’s and a few more obscure DE’s. I have shaved with each one. So far, I have obtained a couple crummy Pakistani straights that I bought before I knew what they were. I have started to make up for it, though, by getting a Le Grelot, a Wade & Butcher and a Keen Cutter.

I am by no means an expert at any form of wet shaving and still consider myself a novice in DE even though I am at a point that I can consistently shave with no issues. I am definitely a noob with the straight but am taking it very slow. Even still, I am getting great results so far.

Wow, what a long winded introduction. I'll wrap up by saying that I am looking forward to the advice and resources that undoubtedly reside in this community in order to advance in my wet shaving experience.

Another member posted somewhere here a very apt description of it. Wet shaving is a way of life. Collecting is the hobby part of it.

If they are tight a not rusted out should I buy them?

This is strange. I could have sworn this question was here not to long ago. Did I dream that?...LOL

Thanks for the welcome and I'll see you around the community.
