Just out of my own curiosity, if you like the scent of Arko, do you also like the scent of the Veg?

I keep trying to talk myself into trying the Veg, but it scares me. I was reading, and ran across someone who said they liked Arko, but after all they like the Veg too. This got me thinking; if you like one, will you like the other?

Not sure about the like part, but if one finds Arko smelling like a toilet, Veg will kill him altogether Biggrin

No. Arko is just okay to me (smells like Mr. Clean cleanser or something).

The Veg is almost literally the worst thing I've ever smelled. I ruined my whole day when I smelled it. It smells like a nursing home full of Depends that need to be changed.

The veg smells like moth balls stuffed in a 30 year old cow manured boot mixed with blue airplane toilet water. I gave my bottle to Dad.

Surely you love your Dad more than that. Wink

I use Arko from time to time and it does not bother me. I've read all the comments about toilet urinals, etc., and I say rubbish to that. To me it smells like a bar of Ivory soap from the 50's. In other words it smells like pure soap. Builds one heck of a lather and helps provide a great shave.

Now the Veg on the other hand is totally off limits for me. My Grandfather used the Veg and I always thought he stunk.

I like the scent of Arko and its performance as a soap. I dislike the scent of the Veg.

Thanks for all the replys gentlemen.

I love Arko. I like the scent and love the performance. For me it ranks just under MWF in my rotation.

I wasn't sure if somehow Arko and the Veg weren't somewhat similar. Maybe sharing some base note or scent. I guess not LOL.

Curiosity has me wanting to try the Veg, but I'm scared to. After reading all the comments I'm probably going to pass. Even the best comments say it smells like a nursing home. I surely don't need that.

Thanks again guys,
Brian

Buy a bottle Brian, it's inexpensive. You can always use it to kill fire ants.

I like them both, but that wasn't the case with Lilac Vegetal. First impression was terrible. Smells better when refrigerated or relocated to a glass bottle. The plastic bottle contributes to the negative reviews it gets.

Arko has always been a favorite. Works great and smells like soap. Sometimes I want soap to smell like, well, soap rather than some fragrance.

Thank you Johnny for the clarification, I thought it was another soap I had not heard of. Always liked the fresh clean soapy lemon scent of Arko and the way it performs. I think I'll avoid Veg for an AS from the comments here.

I've never used the Veg as I'm not really much of perfume guy and all the scented colognes and aftershaves and whatnot haven't really ever had much appeal, but a work associate turned me on to the Arko a few years back and I've never been bothered by the lemon scent.

The problem with polls though is that the replies are fixed and may not really correspond to individual responses.

To me, Arko smells like the bathroom soap that you found in the restroom; you had to crank the handle to grind it into your hands. However, I have a stick that I take on vacation (used it yesterday) and it does perform well.
Lilac Vegetal was a long time favorite of mine and a long time nemesis of my wife, who found it cloyingly sweet. I dumped it one day and was immediately rewarded with...Wink

Arko smells like a janitor's closet while the veg smells like what the janitor had to clean up. Biggrin

This is it, right here. Well done.

For those wanting to smell the Veg, I found it in the local chain stored called the Christmas Tree Shop. There's an ownership connection between Bed Bath and Beyond, Christmas Tree Shops, and Harmon's Drug Store. We don't have Harmon's, so they put a huge selection of healthy and beauty supplies (including men's shaving stuff) at Christmas Tree Shop.

Anyway, if you've got any one of the three of those, you might have the opportunity to smell it. Pinaud just has a regular screw cap and you can usually get a little to squeeze out without breaking the seal.
