Can anyone tell me what the razor on the right is and whether I can shave with it?[Image: uje7yqen.jpg] All I know is that it was made in Germany.

I have one just like it but in gold plate ...it is a J.A. Henckels "RAPIDE"...and you can use a SE blade...the little wheel unscrews and you can then move the lever and insert your blade from the back under the small springs.

Thanks. Have you shaved with it? If so, how was it?

quite nice...a bit aggressive but that depends on pressure and angle...I bought mine mostly for the look and rarity.(don,t use SE often)

The other razor, the GEM 1912 has the smaller handle that is the only one I know of that fits the GEM wall-hanger made of tin or aluminum with a holder on either side to hold two boxes of blades, such as this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GEM-RAZOR-RAZOR-...0747743334

By the way, that isn't my auction, and you can find cheaper ones than that, I just thought I'd mention it in case you wanted a cool holder for it. Most of the 1912s had handles that were too big to fit that holder.

You can find one at a better price than that. Put a WTB on our BST here and maybe someone will sell or trade you one.
