I waited forever to try PolSilver since I read a lot of posts that say this blade is very similar to GSB and I have a lot of GSB in stock. However, since I was ordering a brush from a vendor who also carried Polsilver blades, I decided to include a sleeve of PSI's just to satisfy my curiosity.

I finally loaded one into a Merkur Progress today, set at my usual setting of 1.5 for WTG and 2 for everything else. To my face, it is NOT like GSB. It is a little less sharp but a whole lot smoother. Quite surprising really. The smoothness was about identical to having a Feather Hi Stainless in a Feather D2, but with a bit more feedback of what was going on between razor and skin.

Too early to pronounce it as the best blade ever, since this is the first shave with the first blade. What I can say is that (as we all know) YMMV rings most true with blades and only you can tell if it will feel like blade X, Y or Z on your skin, in your razor(s), with your lather.

PSIs enjoy a good reputation across the boards. With the right razor you could end up spoiled!

Enjoy them! I know they feel "special" when I use them. Smile

My favorite of the current in-production blades. Them and Iridium Supers (which I think are the same blade, different packaging).

I really like Polsilvers in my Muhle R101 (same as 2013 R41). I had also read about GSBs being similar to Polsilver SI, and so I blindly bought 50 GSB blades. I don't find them to be similar. For me the GSB aren't as sharp and gave me some irritation. They work better for me in a milder razor like a Gillette Slim.

If someone is willing to trade around 25 GSB blades for Polsilver SIs, please let me know. I hope it's okay that I posted this here.

They are nice blades. For me, good for two shaves. I usually use Feathers or Persona Med Preps, but the PS are on hand as well.

The Polsilver SI is my favorite blade. I recently did a side-by-side comparison between the modern Polsilver SI and the older Iridium Super. Try as I might, I couldn't tell the difference.

I love the PolSilvers. A top notch blade. I hit on a dud the other day though...I couldn't believe. Still, they will always be in my rotation.

I didn't enjoy them as much as my only blade, the original Super Iridiums. I didn't find them as smooth, for some reason. Oh, well! YMMV as they say and I hope you continue to use them, Karlo. Biggrin

I haven't tried the original Super Iridiums and given where I live, finding them is unlikely. I think the current Polsilver is good. It is not an identical twin to Gillette Silver Blue but it is certainly close enough to be a fraternal twin. Differences exist but not enough for me to seek one over the other. In my razors at least.

I've managed to work through a little over a tuck in all the DEs I have. I'd honestly be happy with either Russian blade. Currently have both, but once my Polsilver stock runs out, I don't see myself needing to rush to replenish. I still have a ton of GSB. Smile

hate them both. obviously YMMV. They tug and tug; and lots of friction. just can't stand them.

These blades are the most mysterious except for maybe the 7 o'clock (black, and yellow) ones. Both are terrible for me but relatively well regarded.

I've only tried them in my 37c so far, but I found them...puzzling. They felt great during the shave. Super smooth, super sharp, no tugging or scraping, which I have a problem with a lot due to VERY coarse hair. Then I apply the after shave...OUCH!

I still have my other razors to try them in. I really hope they work in at least one of my razors without leaving me with irritation, because they feel so smooth during the entire shave until that point.

I just had a first run with this blade too. I didn't notice anything startling either way, but one shave isn't nearly enough to form a proper opinion...the jury has just gone in.

I sampled Polsilvers in coordination with my first use of Dittmars. For me, at least it was a perfect union. I'm still using my Super Iridiums and scheming to supplement my lifetime supply with the Polsilvers. I truly believe many of these elements just need that kismet pairing.
