Gentlemen,

This morning my Bob Allman custom razor had its premiere in my humble shave den — and it was a fantastic hit. What a delicious razor. The blade is a 7/8 in Spanish point; the scales are wood, a couple different types, I think — Bob explained it to me, but I am having a senior moment and forget.

What is remarkable about this razor is its balance in my hands: Perfect. The razor tucks in my hands, left and right, as if designed for me — oh, Bob did design and make the razor for me, didn't he? It is not a very heavy razor, which is a blessing for my arthritic hands.

The blade is also the perfect size for me: a 7/8. I am slowly shuffling away from the 8/8 blade, as I find it too big and bulky for my small hands and Hollywood face.

The edge on my Bob Allman custom is celestial: it's like an angel's wings slicing through soft clouds. Good show, Bob. Thank you for producing a work of art for moi.

Love the stamping on the spine. That will lower resale value though. 24

Doug, this one is a keeper and I will not part with it. Such perfectly balanced razors that are also glorious shavers are rare.

Magnificent looking razor. I always enjoy seeing your razors on SOTD, and will certainly enjoy seeing this beauty. I'm still looking for my "angels wings."

Gentlemen,

Thank you for the kind words. Bob Allman is an unassuming craftsman who produces remarkable razors. He is also a sweet and kind person, and I found working with him a pleasure.

After several conversations about what razor I wanted, he went ahead and produced exactly what I was looking for. The OBIE stamp on the bottom of the shank was a surprise, and a welcome one, too, I might add. I love the stamp, because it strengthens the razor's personality and really makes it mine.

Good stuff, this. I love everything about the razor. Oh, the shave is glorious.

I don't comment on Straights very often and it is much rarer for me to want to comment on a new straight but this one just stands out to me.

I love the workmanlike qualities of this. The clean blade design with useful jimps and heavy spine. The muscular outline of the jimps area and three pin scales. Everything screams that it will do its job for a lifetime.

That's just good clean fun !

Thanks for posting this Obie !
