A fellow board member sent me his Hart. ( Gee that sounds funny)
The blade was pristine but the original clunky faux Ivory scales just had to go.
And thankfully the hinge screw arrangement as well. I know some like this so they can "adjust" the tension but I'm more old school. Razors have pins. Want to adjust it? Give it a tap or two. Deal with it.
Anyway I made up some Ivory scales in the style of the originals.
Did double pins on the black horn wedge end. And in traditional Ivory style ,,,, no washers.
Now it looks like a razor.

It doesn't just look like a razor, but a magnificent razor! It's hard to believe the difference between the appearance of this razor and the appearance of a new Hart Steel razor.

Doesn't it though? It looks classy,, elegant. Not like some plastic encrusted bolted together construction set. Hey,, grab some wrenches I have to work on my razor. Say what?

I can't get over the change in it. I love the no washer look as well.

I could not agree more on the disdain for her nuts on straights. I have Hart, Harner, Livi and Williams all with her nuts and I just don't like them. At least Livi and Williams put the her side on the backside of the razor.

Excellent work as always Mark, can't wait to get it back.

Yea, those new scales are a massive improvement over the factory originals. That is one thing that always put me off Hart razors, I'd expect better looking scales for their price point.

The blade arrived today. I know this will sound crazy, but Mark's pictures do not capture the full beauty of these scales. I've never seen coloring like this on ivory before (I do have a number of Ivory scales). All but a small smattering of my blades are either modern or have been rescaled. This is without equal in my collection, and that's saying a lot. A simply classic set of scales with a modern look.

I'm still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor as this is one captivating and stunning razor! Love the scales; love the razor. Would love to see it in real life to view the detail missed by the camera. Doug you are one lucky owner, and Mark, what can I say but excellent craftsmanship.
