I have that one too, but I use the lined handle from an EJ DE89L which I find nicer than the Mühle handle. I prefer the shorter 11c, I think. YMMV. Otherwise I agree, the head is pretty much the same. I think Merkur made the heads for the 2010 R41 if I'm not mistaken, maybe at a somewhat higher standard.

I agree, Jeff. I think I'll go with the Muhle R41. I already have the Fattip coming, but I suppose I can always use the R41, too. I had it not too long ago and passed it on. I'll give it one more try.

Gentlemen,
After considerable search, I finally found a new Merkur 11C open comb. I suppose it helped that I have the tenacity of a shark. The price was fine, but the bloody shipping charge was the killer. OY!
Here is the link to the store: http://www.osograndeknives.com/store/ind...il&p=11640
Thanks for all your help, gentlemen.

Dave,
I almost had a heart attack. The UPS shipping for that little razor was $12. TWELVE DOLLARS! I don't believe it. This wasn't being shipping from the moon, for heaven's sake. Give me a break! The razor was $43 something, which is reasonable. That much for shipping, though? Outrageous!
But I was on a mission to land one. No one else had it, except for another vendor who charged a fortune for the razor alone, and who knows how much the shipping would have been. This is not right. I understand supply-and-demand, but let's not get carried away here.
Our own Phil at Bullgoose, bless his heart, he is fair and reasonable. Unfortunately he does not have the blasted razor. Ah, my friend, what is this world coming to?
I am glad you found your Muhle R41. I have one coming, as well as the Fatip Piccolo and the long handle gold. I think I went overboard, but more and more I am dissatisfied with my closed comb razors and prefer the open comb. In all likelihood I'll end up selling some of them rather than have them sit in the rack and make faces at me.

Thanks, Dave. I am looking forward to both the 11C and the Muhle Fatip.
Ah, my friend, the Joris is an experience. Get it before you do anything else.
I was not all that impressed with the ikon, though. Fine workmanship, yes, but the shave head's dual personality made me neurotic.

Yes, gentlemen. It was a long search, but as I noted above, I finally found here:

I remember all the hype around the 2011 R41, I avoided it for a while but caved in when a few guys called it 'the greatest razor ever made'. I should have ignored it, but dropped $70 on the paper weight. What's funny is that no one would buy it from me or even trade me. It just sits in the box on the shelf as a reminder.
To see people hunting down the 2010 R41 says a lot about the 2011. Maybe in a couple of years they'll redesign it and people will want the 2011. LOL
