I was wandering around Lima a couple days ago, and hidden amongst the shops selling alpaca clothing I came across a ceramic "art" gallery. Everything seemed to be useful (I like that): plates, cups, bowls, tagines and there was this pie dish. It was one of those items that I'd probably regret not purchasing, and will (hopefully) stay in my home forever. Here's a couple pics, also put together a peach rhubarb pie for its inaugural run.[Image: ff9d921e4f0f2825b426644bf1368798.jpg][Image: d0e9b1fb7accb178874df779094e24a2.jpg][Image: 8245c155bef94cba82187dd06860f8f9.jpg]

That's a beautiful pie, but I wonder how much lead is in the pie dish?

Aah, good call. Especially coming from down there. I sent Oswaldo (the owner) an email about it, and perused their website a bit. http://www.oswaldoylala.com They seem to be very legit and internationally known, and most of their pottery is food related. I'll also try to pick up a lead testing kit.

I wasn't concerned enough to not eat the pie, and it turned out excellent.

Thanks guys, I'd never had peach-rhubarb pie either, but that's what I had on hand and it went very well together.

I got an email back from Oswaldo assuring me I could cook in it with confidence, just not over open flame. He said they do not use any leaded products. Worth checking out, thanks for suggesting it.
