I'm in the market for another brush (like I really need one) and am thinking of getting a New Forest brush. But before I do, I would appreciate any input that y'all might be able to give.

Thanks in advance and enjoy that shave

There's a passaround thread in this forum which has some reviews on the NF brushes. You should look that up.

I have a 'tubby' 2 which I like and a 2211, I think that is it's designated number.

The 'Tubby' has quite a dense knot and holds a lot of lather but the flow through is fine .

Would recommend good value.

I had a tubby one. It was a very nice brush. Great balance of backbone, density and flow through.

For my personal tastes, it wasn't dense enough but this is purely my taste, it was overall a nice brush and quite good for the money.

I think the 2201 Two Band and the 2211 Silvertip are tremendous value for money.

Don't know if these are still available though.

I have enjoyed using one of Fido's brushes. He marketed the model I had as equivalent to HMW. It wasn't quite the same as my Plissons but IMO it was outstanding value for money. The particular model I had was particularly soft, but good backbone. At work now, I'll upload a pic when I get home.

I had one of the original 2201's when they came out, and for the most part they're pretty good. From what I understand they've improved over time, but the 2-band hair was actually quite nice. I'd place the 2201 over the Frank Finest, and the Frank Finest over TGN Finest, unless it's one of the coarse types of knots.

I fall into the category of I like the name brands the best it seems, but I've been weeding down what I like to use and keep. In all honesty I'd just keep them all if I just wanted to look at them as I quite enjoy it, but I try to balance it down to what I'll use. Trying is the key word. I'll buy some more soon. Rolleyes
