I am thrilled that the Mongoose will be offered in a head-only version with the 2nd batch, but it presents a new problem. I have been a Cobra shaver for the last couple of years, and I sold off all of my DE razors (and handles). I need suggestions for good handles to try with the Mongoose head. I would want a handle with polished stainless steel on it. What do you recommend and why? Photos would be appreciated.

Phil posted a beautiful photo of an iKon Shavecraft SE 100mm handle coupled with the Mongoose head today ... look in SOTD ... here

... I liked it so much, I ordered one for myself! Biggrin

So far the DUB Legend is my favorite. I have tried the UFO Colibri and iKon SE as other handles. But YMMV

I have the Dub Slim with my Mongoose ... and it's very nice ... the only downside for me is lack of knurling, although it's not necessarily slippery in use.

According to the Mongoose Team, they are looking at different handle options in terms of stock razors with next batch onwards ...

They might offer a bamboo type handle with the 2nd batch. I have several iKon SE handles and don't find them a problem griping.

My only concern with aftermarket handles is in regards to the overall balance of the razor. I'm thrilled with the Dub Legend and will most likely pick up the Dub Slim when it's made available. Also, any handle that comes out of Team Mongoose Think Tank will be on my list to consider. At least from the makers of the razor I know that the balance will be there when head and handle morph together to form Mega-Mongoose.

I'm hoping for a "wave" type handle.

The Above the Tie finish is NOT highly polished like the Mongoose/Dub. Still looks good but very different - if that bothers you.

Thanks a bunch! Those pics were great and more than I was hoping for. I like the looks of the little Atlas handle, but I would want to get it polished to better match the finish of the Mongoose.

The short Kaiser would be perfect for what I'm looking for. The handle length and finish look great!

I'm very impressed with your DIY conversion to a King Cobra handle. Can you post a picture of the threaded stud that you tapped into the handle?

Not a big deal,I used a lathe cut & face off the colossus handle at the knurl by the 10/32"threaded area.Drilled 3/4" in and taped for 1/4-20" thread.Make sure to ream around the new hole so there are no burrs.

I think it's a very big deal. Way to do it yourself! Now I have seen one picture of a disassembled King Cobra and the threaded stud is in the handle. Why did you choose to mount it in the head instead? (or can it go either way?)
