Simpson Somerset 57 and Rudy Vey Shavemac for sale. Please PM questions. PayPal, please. Shipping to USA is included. I can and will ship worldwide at cost, but please note that insurance is not available for international shipments.

Rudy Very – Shavemac Finest 18mm x 44mm in G3 Handle with Dark Purple Nebula Color Paid $95 asking $90 NOW $65 - or trading for Simpson Commodore X1 in Best. No RV Logo, but I can email the original email from Rudy along with his stock pic if requested. This knot lathers like crazy - this is the perfect face-lathering brush, but the handle is a bit hard for me to hold.

Simpsons Pre-Vulfix 57 in Best $140 NOW $95 Shipped to USA - LAST REDUCTION

The handle and hair is from the David Carter Era, and it has the yellowish ivory tinted handle. The handle is engraved, but also has Lamp Black inside it. Another member commented that this brush handle was likely made when AE Simpsons moved away from the full lamp black due to toxicity. The hair is creamy white and it is VERY dense.

I will also trade this for a Rooney 3/1 in black Super or Heritage.

My curiosity has been nagging at me, can you post a link to the discussion where you determined this is a Somerset era Simpson brush? I have never seen an engraved brush that was thought to be made at the Somerset factory, only brushes that retailers claim are made from vintage Somerset rod stock. Even this latter claim has made me ponder a bit and wonder if Mark or anybody at Simpson would validate it.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I truly am just curious.

It's no problem and you aren't the first to ask. I don't have a link. I bought two brushes in Chicago at Merz Apothecary in June 2006 to celebrate my son's eminent birth, a Duke 2 and and this 57. I didn't know anything about Simpsons brushes except that they were beautiful and on sale so I bought them. I had a conversation via PM with a member here and his take was that they were made after AE Simpson stopped using Lamp Black due to toxicity. I couldn't verify this, but it sounded plausible so I used it verbatim.

I have seen brushes using old stock, especially at The Superior Shave, but those brushes typically cost a lot more for one brush than what I paid for both.

I'll let anyone who buys the brush examine it for a week and return it no questions asked for a full refund if they are not 100% satisfied with it for a full 7 - days as long as it is in the shape as when purchased.

I have the box, but nothing else. This Friday if it hasn't sold I'm going to archive the post.

I'll look for someone wanting an odd 57 and go from there...

Purple...but it depends on which way you look at it and under what lighting conditions. This morning I shaved with it and it looked blue under the incandescent bulbs, but once the fluorescent bulbs were on it was dark Purple with pillowy lavender highlights inside of it.

It is a spectacular brush, just hard for me to hold.
