Anyone ordered a brush with this new badger hair grade ? any thoughts about it ?
A HMW that is named after their mythical hair grade. I don't know much about the vintage manchurian.
I have placed an order for a Manchurian Colonel. I will tell you more about it once I receive it.

I purchased a Simfix Pearlescent with Manchurian Badger. The Manchurian badger looks like some of the finest knot brushes with the Simfix tips being not quite as white. The dimensions of the brush are: 21mm knot, 50mm height, and 100mm overall. I chose this brush because I wanted to check out the Manchurian Badger and keep the cost down for my entry to this arena. The brush has good backbone and good flow. The brush is desribed as being densly packed and while it is certainly adequately filled it is less dense than the Simpson brushes I have owned. The feel of the brush tips is not as soft as silvertip or super but more softness than best. It reminds me of a RV LE brush that I have with TGN finest. This one strikes a good balance between a feel of scratchy vs. softness. I used the brush with a cream and MDC. IMHO almost any brush can whip up a good lather with MDC and the brush performed well with both shaves.
Is the Manchurian Badger worth the price - that is up to you to ultimately decide for as we all know YMMV. I will keep the Simfix and give it another 8 to 10 uses to determine my final impression.

Thanks for posting your impressions on the Simfix brush, William.
I really appreciate it as I was considering buying one of those for myself. Given what you say about it, I'll spend some time considering if I want a 'Manchurian' in my stable enough to shell out the money for one.
I think I'm more likely to spend my money on the custom Case with 2-band hair that I've been promising myself.
I'll also be following this thread to see what you decide about the Manchurian.

Haha, this is highly unlikely.
I've been watching these reviews as well, but these brushes are so expensive. Honestly, what's keeping me away is I've decided I don't like any scritch in my brushes and apparently these manchurians have just a bit of scritch.

Received my Manchurian Colonel this week.
This hair grade is not on the soft side of the HMW.
It really feels like another two band hair. Less soft than regular Simpson two band with thicker hairs. It leans toward my shavemac D01 two band : Kind of pricky when the face is touched by the loft point and very firm.
The major improvement compared to regular Simpson two band is the loft shape : No more of those pointy bulb I don't like.
Good flowthrow, very firm loft, silky soft massage feel.
I have found my Shavemac D01 two band scritchy, my Chubby#1 two band too pointy and dense. I like my Stubby heritage XXL only once in a while as I never really got used to its gel like feel.
This two band is very well balanced with the right size for my taste.
A valuable addition to my rotation.

Manchurian Hive, Emperor 3, Butterscotch Rover and Chubby 3 have all landed!!!

More pics soon.
I'll be comparing them with this:
[attachment=511][attachment=512]
Chubby 3 "Extra Super" (aka the "old" Manchurian).
In the mean time do I need the Colonel X2L Manchurian Butterscotch too???
