I plan to get a tube of Proraso Sandalwood shaving cream. Is there a new and old formula with this one, like the green? Or is it just one original old type?

There's definitely more than 1 old type. There's the older green & white. There's also an old proraso in a red tube but it wasn't sandalwood. It had wheat germ in it IIRC & is highly sought after.

The current proraso red is I think the first time they've done a sandalwood version.

The Proraso red (Sandalwood) is brand new. Is a wonderful preforming cream with a woody, clean, earthy Sandalwood scent. I was hoping this was going to be more like AOS Sandalwood, but its more of a woody smell.

Here it is.

Ohh, thought the sandalwood was an old formula. Well, then it is no problem which to choose Smile I already have the pre-post cream and the after shave balm (both old formula). Since I really like Proraso, I'll have to get one of each shaving creams Smile

TBH, the Proraso sandalwood isn't very sandalwoody. It smells like Proraso with a hint of sandalwood. I love the stuff, but I wouldn't buy it if I were looking for a sandalwood cream. When I think of scented products, I expect the scent to stand out, the Proraso sandalwood doesn't do that. YNoseMV.

Good to know. I like the new formula green a lot and was tempted to get the red.

It's certainly worth buying if you're a fan of Proraso. It's nice to bounce between the red and green for a bit of variety. I really only use Proraso, so the subtle change is welcomed. I find myself using the red far more than the standard.

Both the red and the green have a permanent spot on my shelf. I still wish they made a Red A/S.

Not very strong at all more of a woody, earthy scent with Sandalwood way down in the scent. It's VERY hard scent to describe, you almost just have to try it and then make up you own mind.

It's worth it just to try a new Proraso scent, you know the cream will perform flawlessly.

Some guys say the Proraso Sandalwood cream has a cooling sensation, but I don't detect it at all. It's still fantastic stuff.

No, I don't because for as much as I love menthol, I'm afraid I might over-do it and cause my skin to burn.

I see. I too am a menthol lover, and I plan to experiment with menthol crystals. As to "not over do it", I'll go slow with the menthol Cool

You gents don't find the smell a bit mild? A friend of mine gave me a small sample and the Sandalwood was quite tame.

Very, very mild it is! Also no very sandalwood-y either, but I like the properties of the cream Cool
