Is there a way to let folks look at new post only? Right now, unless I've missed something, we have to look through each topic/section to find out if there is something new.
It would be nice to click one spot and have all the new posts, since our last visit, shown and available for reading/responding.
Just an idea.

Click on you username, in the top right corner of the page. A drop-down menu should pop up, with a few options.
"View new posts" is one of them.
You'll have to have Javascript enabled on your browser. And a little more on this issue was discussed here.
Hope it helps!

what's not working? the drop down near your name?
No, that works fine, Andrew. However, today, it showed that I only had 8 unread posts since yesterday. I have dozens to go through, not 8. I have to keep going back to the main board or a particular thread to see each one.

I'll have to look into that because it seems to be working fine for me.

Then perhaps I'm doing something wrong. (So what else is new. :s)

Well, I think I got it. Or at least, I think that I understand now what Freddy is talking about.
In this software, it seems to be a difference between "unread posts" and "new posts".
- Unread posts -> well, posts that the user haven't already read (they may be new or not);
- New Posts -> posts written after your last login (regardless if they are already read or not, perhaps?).
The drop-down menu delivers the option only for "new posts". There's no option for "unread posts". Don't know if that option can be done with this software - Andrew will know much more than I, for sure. But I may be wrong...

actually, I don't. I don't ever use that feature, to be honest.
but what you wrote does make sense.
