I'm looking for a barber shaving cup from Japan. The square kind; preferably made from rubber.

If there's anyone out there who lives in Japan and doesn't mind finding and shipping one to me I will be eternally grateful.

Could you post a picture of one of those cups? I've never seen one.

I have not seen these in my trips to Japan. What's the functional idea behind the form?

From what i've seen, it's basically a brush scuttle, just in true to Japanese compact and efficient form. One side is open and the other side has a compartment where the brush sits when not in use. The compartment sits in the hot water bath and keeps the brush warm.

I don't think you can really create lather in the compartment if you have a large brush, but I want one to try it.

West Coast Shaving sells a Col. Conk Rectangle mug for $18.99 (on page 2 of Mugs @ Bowls)...sort of looks like the Japanese Mug you are after....not as expensive but probably works the same(also at ROYAL Shave who has a much better picture)...could be a different brand.

That's sweet looking!

I'm kinda obsessed with this square mug now myself after seeing the picture but I have just spent the past 30 minutes reaching out to Japanese friends and they are saying it is like nothing they have seen? Is this by chance an antique/ outdated design?

I have Japanese friends searching the Web for you.
