I have been wetwetshaving since I was a kid, but now at the age of 47 I thought it would start a new journey getting into straight razors. Well today I received my first from Straight Razor Design...Ralf Aust 7/8 Spanish point with olivewood scales. I am sure over the next few months I will enjoy learning new techniques to getting a nice smooth shave without any blood shed.....lol

That one is a real beauty! Enjoy the world of straight razor shaving. After 52 years of using a DE, I've been using straights for the past nine months. There is a learning curve, but for me it was a fun one, and then everything just seems to click into place.

Great choice.. both on the switch to straights and the Ralf Aust. I have the same blade you've chosen.. It's one of top five blades and I use it often. It's a beast of a blade that takes and holds a crazy nice edge. And, you don't see too many 7/8 Spanish tips!!

Have fun!!

Thanks and I find the Spanish point works well for me. I liked it enough that I just ordered a Custom 7/8 Spanish point with Mokume Gane scales from Max Sprecher.
