I have a Rubberset 600N coming and I was wondering if anyone had experience in taking it apart to remove the nylon brush so I could re-knot with a better badger.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Due to the unique construction of this brush, you've got an interesting challenge ahead of you.

I'd recommend shearing the knot off almost flush with the ferrule, then use a Dremel (or equivalent) to very gently rout out the remainder. Just be very careful the tool doesn't run away from you and damage the ferrule. Light "cuts" taken slowly from the center out, should do the trick. Once you get the knot most of the way out, you could use a dental pick to chip away at the remaining adhesive.

The 600N doesn't respond well to steaming, as the lucite won't tolerate much heat. Moreover, the adhesive used is particularly tough/brittle. So take your time, be gentle and good luck.

Be sure to post pics.
