I received an email along with probably a thousand other Maggard customers that about eight Maggard slant prototype razors will be tested within the next couple of weeks. I have absolutely no clue what these razors look like. IMHO they will probably go on sale early next year. Again only a guess of my part . Certainly very exciting news.

In case someone gets curious I am not one of the testers.

If you check out the Maggard website and razors 11 out of 12 offerings have SS handles so it's a good bet the slant will have one as well.

This is great news. The more slants the better. Speaking of which, an off topic question. Has anyone tried the Ikon 102 Shavecraft slant head? It doesn't look very slanty to me. Also, is this aluminum?

It is aluminum (as is the shavecraft #101 head). It's also a humpback slant so it doesn't torque the blade in the same way an iKon DLC Slant or Merkur slant would. It just rests the blade at an angle.

Thanks. I thought I was blind or something. Your description explains it well.

I have the 102 slant and it's a very nice, smooth, mild razor. Easy to use; intuitive. Not for those who want an aggressive shaver, but if you like a mild head you would probably enjoy it.

The pictures may not be obvious, but it is a regular head with a slanted threaded shaft into which the handle screws. So when you have it screwed together and hold the handle vertical, the whole head is slanted without the blade being torqued.

Caution - a stainless handle will be harder than the aluminum head, so when you screw them together it is very easy to cross thread the shaft and render the head useless.
