Just got my Goose back from the guys over at Iron Ridge Gunsmith and Metal Works in Longmont just now and wanted to share some quick dashboard pics ... It's turned out amazing and the finish is simply top notch, as it always is.

This is an aftermarket finish that I paid for and Iron Ridge is not affiliated with Mongoose in any way just so we are all clear and there is no confusion over what finishes are offered for the Mongoose. They currently offer Polished and Satin finishes, I opted to pay for a durable, aftermarket black finish.

Initial impression is that the sub slim is much grippier for me with the Teflon than in its original, high Polish finish.

Enjoy some quick dashboard pics ... I'll try to post more later.

Beautiful. This really makes me want to send a few of my razors in to have this done. Do you mind if I ask you if this was costly?

Oliver the owner at Iron Ridge is very fair to work with -- I believe he is $45 per razor and if you do three at a time it's $100.00. So better to do in batches of three.

Feel free to call them and get a price directly.

Thanks,

Jason

Looks great!
Is Teflon Black the color, or the actual material?
What I know about guns would rattle in a thimble, but I ask because I've seen posts from others that used gun shops to coat razors with Cerakote. I'm wondering if your Teflon is different.

Teflon is a highly durable coating used on metal parts across many Industries and in this case it is black, rifle grade Teflon S Pure.

Pretty sure Teflon can be other colors, but in this case the finish is Teflon and it is black in color.

Thanks, Boonie. I know what Teflon is from kitchenware! I jist didn't know if that was what this coating "really" is.

Cerakote is a ceramic coating. That is different, I take it?

I'll take one Fire Engine Red, please!

Yes, cerakote is different than Teflon but both are frequently used in firearms coating and finishes.

On a side note I saw a comment made about doing a coating on a Mongoose changing or altering the geometry of the razor itself due to adding the layer of coating ... We measures before and after and there was less than a .001 change in dimension of the head. That is negligible at best.
