Hello-

My youngest son is willing to try a brush and soap in place of canned gel. Smile
He'll still use his cart razor for now. Sad

But he states it must be unscented as he has very sensitive eyes.

What recommendations do you folks have for an unscented, non-irritating soap?

Thanks

Barrister and Mann has an unscented soap. You can still get that incredible lather without the incredible scents

I'm a die hard B&M fan, so I'd have to agree.

Most of the artisanal soaps offer unscented soaps which are quite good.

I'm voting for B&M. Never tried the unscented but with 16 of their scented soaps, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the unscented.

There is a member here (Mike Allen/moallen) that only uses unscented soaps. Bet that gent has some great suggestions too.

Another vote for barrister

Doesn't Mike's and LASS also have unscented?

Some of the soaps already suggested definitely have scent.

MdC claims to have an unscented soap, but it does have scent; probably just what it picks up from out of the air as it's curing. It's quite mild though.

Valobra stick to my nose has only the scent of soap.

Something to consider is that a soap left open will have the scent reduced over time. Too, some soaps even with the lid torqued down will age and the scent will tame down. Cella is one of these, and so is MdC. Understand, I'm talking years and not months. The Cella I have, when I first got it was actually horrible, now it's quite nice. The MdC when I first got it was quite annoying, but after aging it's very nice.

Of course aging a soap won't work for immediate gratification.

You are seeking what the geeks call "fragrance free" -- which means utthere is no fragrance added, but the product will have the scent of the underlying ingredients.

Fragrance-free soaps of which I am aware include:
Art of Shaving "Unscented"
Barrister & Mann "Unscented"
Los Angeles Shaving "Plain Shaving Soap"
Mystic Water "Sensitive Skin"
Stirling "Naked & Smooth"
Strop Shoppe Special Edition "Unscented"
Taylor of Old Bond Street "Sensitive"

Fragrance-free creams of which I am aware include:
Art of Shaving "Unscented"
eShave "Fragrance Free"
Gentlemen's Refinery "UnScented"
Kiss My Face "Fragrance Free"
New York Shaving "Unscented"
Simpson's "Unscented"
Tabula Rasa "Unscented"
Taylor of Old Bond Street "Natural"
Truefitt & Hill "Ultimate Comfort"

There are probably others of which I am unaware, but this list will get you started. If you asked me for a favorite, I would recommend Art of Shaving and Gentlemen's Refinery.

Best of luck.

Mike's Natural comes in unscented. Currently in stock too, which isn't always the case with Mike Smile

I would look at Los Angeles Shaving Soap's plain shaving soap. Their soaps have excellent cushion, glide and post skin care. http://lashavingsoap.com/collections/sha...aving-soap

Just missed out on their Australian inspired Summer Down Under shaving soap made with Shiraz wine, ah well I may some Mitolo GAM to make up for it Biggrin

I found a puck of vintage Williams which lathers great and has no scent. I think it was made in the 60's or 70's.

That is a great list. I have many of those.

I recently received some Stirling "Naked & Smooth" as a gift and it is excellent.

Here are a few more artisan soaps that I enjoy regularly:

Tiki Bar unscented (not listed on the website, but available on request)

The Shave Den unscented lanolin soap

The Shave Den unscented wheat cream

Dapper Dragon unscented

Mikes Natural soap

Nobody has mentioned Valobra Unscented. If I had to pick a favorite line of soaps, it would be Valobra.

The Unscented has no added fragrances but it is not truly without scent. It smells like what it is, which is a tallow based soap. This is only really noticeable if you open the container and stick your nose in it - not during actual lathering and shaving.

Many great options have been listed.

I just want to add that for someone who is new to the wet shaving game - creams tend to be the better choice (Vs soaps). And tubes tend to be preferred to tubs. You want to do everything you can to get him hooked! :-)

At present, he's a shower shaver. I'm thinking a shave stick may be the right choice.
