Guys - a customer sent us his fathers Super 109 / Super Adjustable for a Tune Up. The gold was so bad that I really wanted to Revamp it (repair / replate).

Unfortunately we haven't been able to perform that service on these razors to date because they have both Brass Heads (plated in Gold or Nickel) and Aluminum handles with baked on enamel paint / anodized aluminum in later models.

We got some new tools and have learned a few tricks so we decided to experiment.

The customer said he was fine with the experimentation so here was the before:

And here we have taken it apart:

And now we have polished each piece for plating:

We then painted + baked the handle and plated the head components.

Here are the final results after assembly:

I'm very excited by this new development and am glad to finally be able to work extensively on these cool models from the 60's-80's.

Just wanted to share with you all!

Fantastic. At one time that was one of my favorite razors, and although I purchased it new in the 70's, I'm not sure that it ever looked as nice as this one.

That was great work producing great results.
God I love vintage razors. All the modern ones don't wow me. Among my collection I have two of my fathers razors and one of my grandfather's. I sent two of the to Razor Emporium and the did a fantastic job on both.

That's an excellent restore!

So I guess these are harder to take apart than your average fatboy or slim?

Also, the handle looked pretty good after cleanup, curious why you made the decision to paint and bake.

This picture represented the handle before painting:

It had a lot of area of paint missing so we wanted it to look its best. Honestly the paint+bake method provides such high quality / durable results that I would recommend it to anyone with a black handle Gillette!
