I've read a few threads on a number of forums about this soap and there appears to be a general opinion as to how poor this product is (although there are a couple of positive reviews out there).

I was, therefore, quite unsure as to whether purchasing some would be a good move or not. I've finally got round to purchasing some and am really pleased I did.

I used it tonight with a T&H Wellington brush and found it easy to get a good, thick and consistent lather when bowl lathering as the picture below shows:

The lather did not 'drop-off' after a short period of time as some triple-milled veggie soaps I've used recently have done. Glide and cushioning were good and I could notice a definite moisturising effect post-shave.

All-in-all I rate this as being a really good soap. It's not up there with soaps like DRH, Klar and Artisan soaps but is still IMHO a very good soap nonetheless and I certainly recommend giving it a try.

I love Musgo Real, the Orange Amber is one of my favorites.

I struggled with the original cream as it caused a reaction on my face but was always taken by the smell (which I love). I've held off from buying the newer creams for this reason.

Thankfully the soap hasn't caused any reaction and I hope that Claus Porto / Ach. Brito consider releasing it with the newer scents such as the Orange Amber you mention. Smile

In order to clarify any potential confusion the soap I used is not the pre-shave soap, it's this one (the stainless steel bowl is my own):

Well... maybe they tweaked the formula and made it better...

The Musgo Real shaving soap that I've tried some time ago (summer of 2012) was a terrible product, with a very unstable lather.

Interesting. I love the classic scent and the splash, but have been staying away from the shaving soap because of the bad reviews. But this is very interesting. Seriously tempted now.

I wrote about this awhile ago here:

Unfortunately I deleted the photos. For me, it was an OK soap. For the price however ($12) I think you could find better options. If you're a Musgo Real fan in general, it might be worth giving it a try.

Let us hope. The product as originally formulated was a dud.
