I just received this brush in today's mail....our very own Doug Korn (55dougie) made this beauty after a brief back and forth discussion. The handle of the original was a little too big for my hands, so I sent Doug the old, and he sent back the new Biggrin

I wanted to make sure it performed exactly like the original brush, so Doug made sure the loft stayed the same. The handle is significantly more comfortable for me, not to mention much more aesthetically pleasing.

Tonight's shave was the typical fantastic experiences I have had thus far with the EJ XL. It tore right into the new puck of MW Bay Rum and whipped up some incredible lather in no time. I loved this brush when I first got it from Phil, and now even more so. Doug is a true gentleman to work with and I think he did a fantastic job with his D55 shape...

That root beer color (?) is a good match for the knot. The whole brush looks of a piece -- great job. I was wondering when the first customizing of this knot would show up. Smile

Very nice handle. BTW, I believe there's a VP Leonhardy lurking in the first picture; what do you think about it?

I love the VP Leonhardy. This one is the 700030 and I don't think I'd want it any bigger. Very soft, and despite its size, there's no way I'd call it floppy. Upon loading from a soap I find I have to pinch the base of the hairs slightly to keep the tips together, but it is not so much an issue as it is a technique adjustment. It holds a ton of lather and gives it up freely. I consider it an excellent addition to my den and I doubt I'll ever get rid of it Biggrin

I hope I am not derailing Giorgio's thread by presenting another gorgeous example of Doug Korn's work.

Not at all my friend, I just changed the title of the thread to include all Doug's work.

He did a fantastic job on your brush, and I really like that color coupled with that shape Biggrin.

I have another custom brush in the works that I'll be looking forward to sharing in the coming weeks, so generalizing this thread (vs starting a new one) seems like the most appropriate thing to do Cool

Anyone else with a brush from Doug feel free to show it off here too Biggrin

The knot is an older WSP 2-Band 28mm. However, it is only temporary as I will set another one in there.
