Salt soaps are generally made primarily with coconut oil, and none that I've ever tried (and I make them) could be considered a shaving lather. I think that when a manufacturer advertises "one soap does everything" it appeals to our sense of simplicity and frugality but it's not going to be ideal for some things. Plus, salt stings if it gets into a cut...

Pshaw! What would "Mystic Water" know about making soaps?

Oh... I see... Everything... Well Mr. Leonidas, I don't think you could get a more authoritative opinion. :-D

I subscribed to this thread because I was curious, too. Thought there might be a little debate. But when one of the premier shave soap makers chimes in on the first comment... well... probably no more commentary needed. :-)

..Mystic Water, i never thought about the 'salt getting into cuts' issue...... ouch! .....not a good thing...

....chamm, you are correct.

......when an expert gives his/her comments, that is all that is needed...... i am glad that Mystic Water made the comments.......

I found it to be pretty terrible as a shaving soap (thin, non-lubricating lather) but a nice exfoliating bath soap.

This is the only soap I use now for showers. Great scent, super cool packaging, and the sea salts gently exfoliate the skin. I haven't tried it for shaving, but I don't see the point as I have tons of great soaps to great through.

I agree, it can be great as a bath or facial soap, just not for shaving.

My lovely wife and daughter bought me a puck of it, and they were so happy to have found a shaving soap for me. I had my suspicions, and did indeed give it the old school try, but of course, it's a terrible shaving soap, but it's destined to be a good soap for the shower. I told her the truth, something about it not quite as good for shaving as some of my favorites, but it's going to be great in the shower.

Well, Harry. I guess you might have found yourself a decent bath or pre-shave soap! Biggrin

I'm not too sure it's made in Sweden - just the name.

I googled it and got a "Made in the USA" disclaimer. Never seen it or heard of it in Sweden at least. But the text on the box is swedish at least.

I've tried shaving with it myself. It's possible. Not preferable, but possible.
