Hi All,

I've been here since early in 2014, mostly reading (is that called lurking?). Recent events have pushed me totally to this site, and I look forward to participating and learning. I have made several purchases from members already. I'm in Indiana.

Congratulations on your graduation from lurker status. I should have done like you and joined this site back in the fall of 2013 Like Tieste told me too. Recent events make this a much more user friendly site to take part in.

Welcome to The Nook, Gary. There's nothing wrong with reading. I've found that this group is very receptive to others' thoughts; so feel free to add yours whenever you're comfortable doing so. Smile

Thanks guys. It's fun to see the messages from all these members who I feel like I already know a bit from seeing their comments/entries.

I'd like to post a photo of my brush stand - how do you post a pic?

Hi Brad, you must live in woodworkers' heaven or something. Isn't one of the best arch top guitar makers in the world right by you?

See the little white "i" on the black square? Hit that, and it'll let you upload and insert any picture on your computer.

Hi Olschoolsteel - I recognize your name, and I believe we corresponded previously. I was raised just north of Vandalia, if that rings a bell Piggy_214

Hi tonsorius, I recognize your name, too, and title. And it always reminds me of the phrase "practicing to walk like a heron".

Hi David, I've seen some of your posts, too. Thank you. Several years ago I went off on a Spanish civil war read-up and study program, and that lead me to read a good bit about Portugal, too. I know it's one of the favorite spots for Europeans to come visit, and for a good reason.

Hi Ravi, nice to have the welcome from you - my impression is that you have very high status here, and for good reason, too, I understand.

Hi Hans, thanks to you, too for the welcome and help with the site.

Hi Phil, thanks to you for the welcome, too. I think I have helped enable you as an enabler, cuz I have purchased several brushes from members here that you supplied, and I expect they rushed to you with that dough to buy "yet another more-better-perfect brush", you know, the one that would make the shave experience just right. Seriously, love the Vie-Long line.

Here's the little stand I made. It now has a larger top piece, cuz guess what, I've bought more brushes!

Thank you so much. I've always liked the interplay of cherry or maple stained a bit with hunter green paint. I used a waterproof spar varnish on the base, thinking it would get wet, but with just a little towel on the brush, I don't think it gets dripped on at all.

Thanks Johnny, Jerry, and John, for the welcome. I appreciate it.

Johnny, I saw the news item about the guy stuck under a car in the snow up your way last week. Pretty exciting. I understand he was well warmed from the inside, so he withstood his adventure. Cool
