I'm looking at this deodorant which I found on ebay by chance. I have no idea what it says:

Listing says:
Quote:Natural Perfume solid ( Musk ) made in Saudi Arabia
Stone perfume - Musk perfumed for Clothes, body deodorant and can be used as incense .

Use it in the wardrobe to scent your clothes or simply place it somewhere in the room as a room freshener.

You can also use it on the skin.

Can anyone testify as to the efficacy of this?

Yes that's what it says..."jamid" means solid. The bottom part says solid musk perfume (in a different order). The top part indicates where it is "cut" although I am not 100% sure which city it is referring to. It is saying the "illuminated city" which I am assuming means Mecca, but it could also mean Madinah.

No mention of it being natural though and no indication of uses.

Nice find! True musk is not the sex gland of a small deer.
It is a combination of frankincense and myrrh and often rose
and other scents. It is very ancient and you can see it being produced on ancient Egyptian friezes.
You rub it on your body. As you sweat from exercise or simply warm up during the day the scent become more intense. If you've ever been in a older Orthodox or Coptic church that is the scent- less a grandmother offering coffee from a briki.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to risk it and try it and will report the findings later. I've been looking for a deodorant that doesn't leave pit stains. I've been using Crystal as deodorant (it is a block of alum) and so far it has only delayed body odor but it has no scent.

Risk? You get an exotic product that can be used as air freshener if you find the scent to much. The main ingredient;frankincense derives from a plant with some medicinal properties for joint pain and skin conditions.
It took me awhile, but I found it's reference in a work by Ibn Sina ( Avicenna in latin) a Persian 10th century scholar in multiple fields and considered the father of pharmacology.
Like I said, work up a good body temp and you will start smelling like a Orthodox Church or Mosque- not a bad smell from my experience.

I've used this for ten days now. It definitely works. It gives 12 hrs of very good protection and 12 hrs some protection after that. It works better than plain stick deodorant. It is made of a wax like substance which I suspect blocks pores but I also include it as part of a routine. My maximum goal is not only to smell good but also to prevent sweat stains from the use of anti-perspirant deodorants. First thing as part of my routine is I shave my armpits. Even just doing this by itself minimizes body odor greatly. Hairs collect and trap odor. Next thing I do is use Crystal alum deodorant. Then apply the Musk Jamid. The next step is really not necessary in most cases but I do it sometimes, especially when I know it is going to be hot--I apply talc.

Are you sure that is what it is? It is barely getting warm now so I might not have the full picture but as of yet I have not experienced that effect. I've transitioned from using anti-perspirant to deodorant and found the staining still persisted. Even after showering still makes some of the aluminum still linger.

I've had multiple opportunities to wear white shirts now and have not noticed even the slightest bit of staining.

In some people a chemical in their sweat(i forget the name) combines with the aluminum to form a yellowish stain on shirts.so it is not just you.
