Well I have heard different stories about the Hart Steel razors, so I figured I would find out for myself to see if this was a worthy straight to keep in my stable. I will be using this one in the morning along with some Le Pere Lucien & a nice Ronney Heritage brush. After receiving the blade and looking at it for a few moments I already see that I really do not like the black resin scales, so this one just might have to make a trip to Max Sprecher for a new set of custom scales.

Ha! Great timing. I was just looking at that thread about a Hart rescaled in Ivory, but I wasn't totally sure what the original scales they were all talking about looked like

Good luck with it, hope you enjoy the blade end better! That's the important half anyway, right? Wink

Thanks, and yea the resin scales are not so great, but the blade seems like a winner...I also was looking at the thread on the Hart rescale and it did make a big difference!!

I have quite a few razors, but I still love my Hart Steel. I actually like the simplicity and sparseness of the black resin scales with this particular razor, but I do swap out the scales that I have with their imitation ivory scales for a change of pace. I hope you enjoy your new razor, a wonderful New Year present.

Great shaving razor those Harts...especially once Alfredo got his hands on it. Smile I opted for the Cocobolo scales from Hart. Big step up visually and in quality from the base acrylic scales.

Almost can't go wrong with le pėre Lucien, slick with a good and subtle smell.

Hart steel is consistent. May not be glamorous, but certainly a quality item that receives excellent reviews
