.........I returned to a straight this morning. What a pleasure it is to shave with a straight after not using one for a while.
I've been using the Tradere OC razor for the most part, and sometimes the Mariner. The shaves were great and close (and very comfortable, in the case of the Mariner).
However, a straight just feels right to me. Smooth, comfortable - my skin loves it, and it only takes two passes to get a close, comfortable shave.
In fact, my upper lip is the only place where a straight shave isn't actually closer than that from a safety. It is passable, but since I will not go ATG with a straight on my upper lip, it isn't as close as I get with a safety.
Still, for overall pleasure and comfort, give me a straight any day.

I would have to agree with Yohann, about 15 min is about right for me including all the prep, but come on we are traditional shavers, time is not an issue, no plastic quick once overs for us, shaving as become a hobby and a pastime and a pleasure not a chore.

I agree that shaving in general is an experience - something I take my time with and enjoy. However, I sometimes have to run (woke up late, or something came up) and I find that I can still get a great straight shave in a very short period of time.
I also find it more enjoyable than a safety shave, even when it's hurried.
I'm not saying it should be finished in 15 min - just that it can be finished quickly.
