My mother gave me a Dachshund the day I got out of the first grade. Now, 62 years later, they are still part of my life. We now have four, and I recently had an artist on Etsy draw them, a composite from several photographs. Although they have three dog beds, they like to pile into one next to my wife's desk. Two are sisters and one is their mother (now 17 years old), and two share the same father. I'm hoping others will enjoy sharing drawings or photos of their four-legged friends on this thread.

Here is Tiny Tim, male, 3 years old. He's a watch dog by trade and has only two speeds - 0 and 100. He hasn't met too many people he didn't like. Some people find his energy overwhelming but to tell you the truth, I don't even notice it anymore. He is obedient and intelligent, and even sorts his own food in the morning. He hates baths, vacuums, and going out in the rain. He is a rescue, and I got him when he was 11 weeks old. He was found on the side of the road in Chicago as a pup, and somehow managed to make his way into NJ, close to where I was living at the time. I am extremely lucky and grateful to have found him.

Our brindle rescue dog:

And her best buddy, my folks rescue Blue Heeler puppy:

We had my folks pup for a week over Christmas and while they are best buds, it had a handful to have a dog jump on your head or our kids heads at 2am wanting to play. Of finding her on top of our dogs head to get her to play fight.

Out on the canoe this summer. Even if we don't want to take her, we can't resist when she gets excited as we put on our PFD's and she waits for hers to be put on.

Don't worry, she's not leashed in the canoe. This was after a pit stop on an island we were exploring:

Now that is a face to die for! Wonderful photo. You just want to hug him.

What a great dog! I don't think I've ever had a dog that didn't hate baths, vacuums, and going out in the rain. Try living in the rainy Pacific Northwest with four dachshunds to walk who hate the rain. Obedient, yet full of energy, that's my kind of dog!

Great photos of your beautiful brindle. I like a dog that wants to go everywhere with you, and do everything you want to do. I can see that he loves going out in the canoe. What a buddy. Thanks for sharing.

My BFF(Best Furry Friend) Aspen. She is a Husky & German Shepherd cross. We are going out to sled some hay for the goat hay rack. She is a flea market puppy I traded a few chickens for. Good Trade! She watches ice fishing tip up flags, pulls sleds and wagons, rides around the lake in my boat, and loves to camp! (especially if we are camping in a hotel with a good complimentary breakfast buffet) She also alerts me when my blood sugar levels are dropping to dangerous levels, and has recently earned her Service Dog credentials.

Aspen is a beauty, and a remarkable dog.

Sammy looks like he was a wonderful dog. (Please don't discuss cats on the dog forum--blasphemy!)

My two boxers could care less about the vacuum. I vacuum around him or her if they are in the floor and have to bump them with the vacuum to move. They don't mjnd snow but not huge fans of the rain.

This is Tessa the Swiss Mountain Dog. She likes walks, playing with other dogs, eating and snuggling up besides fires. She is also the fiercest and most alert guard dog we've ever had.[Image: 4bebd62ba12dc04177049a3cdccc4db9.jpg]
