TALL HANDLES
[Image: 120602-03.jpg]

There's something special about handling and the grip of a tall handled shaving brush. They look so good too!
Many of these are being produced with short loft silvertip knots - ideal for face lathering!

#1226 - A large dumpy Onyx handle with a very generous 28mm extra silvertip. An awesome brush for someone!
#1227 - A small dumpy Zebra Stripe resin handle with a low-set 24mm horse hair knot. Just £26.
You would be surprised how well these horse hair knots perform Smile

Any questions about these brushes.... please ask!

The Aztec is quite nice, I agree.

Rod, do you plan to do/can you do the Aztec handle design, but smaller? Something like a 22-24mm?

It would be possible to make a custom brush of the same shape and with a 24mm knot, but that would be regular silvertip, (of whatever loft you prefer), and would not have the stainless steel ring in the top. That stainless steel is actually a tube set into the top of the handle, and then the 29mm knot fits inside that tube.

On the plus side, it would be a lot less expensive, at around £50 GBP in the normal resins.

Those Extra Silvertip knots are like hen's teeth to obtain, and I currently just have a few of them, in 26mm, 28/29mm and 30mm. Nothing smaller.

Regards
Rod

Rod, I just took delivery of one of your creations..passed on to me by one of the members here.. #1260 'baseball bat' handle of Kingfisher Burl & blue resin in Extra Silvertip. The ergonomics are absolutely amazing!! Great work for sure. Any suggestions of maintaining the burl? Does it need any attention? Linseed Oil?

Also, do you have a system by which you could tell me when it was made?

I keep a record of all of the items that I make, and that one was the 1260th.

#1260 was made on 21st November 2012

There is no maintenance really needed, as the burl wood is impregnated with resin, but to liven it up there is no harm in rubbing on a little linseed oil or olive oil from time to time.

Rod

Thanks Rod!

The handle is an absolute joy. Aesthetics are perfect.. I am in love with both the burl and the acrylic. The ergonomics are a perfect match to my hand. Knot size is great. This is my first of the larger badger brushes and for me it rocks. No worries of lather going where is shouldn't. It just a smidge floppier than what I would call ideal and it isn't going to be my favorite face lather'r, but for bowl, it is wonderful!

I am a large-knot convert for sure. I would love this handle with a Shavemac D01 two band ultra flattop!
