Not knowing much about Straight Razors...looking to obtain info about a Filarmonic Vintage 14 Straight. It is pictured below and I believe doesn't have original scales, and it has "14 Jose Mon..." engraved. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.

You are very fortunate to have that blade. They are considered to be among the best shavers out there.
Enjoy it!

Agree with the posts above. Not known for great scales, so if the replacements are horn then it's a bonus in my books, although I can't quite tell if they are horn or plastic. The blade is where the kudos come from. IE large, great steel, great shaver.

I have read a full history somewhere about the various iterations of the Filly's but can't seem to recall exactly where. I do recall that it was on a shaving forum, but alas enough time has passed so that it eludes memory.

It is a fili 14 with replacement scales, the goldwash and etching are gone from the blade as is some of its original size. These were sold as 14/18 (hense the 14) but that is measured from the thickest part of the blade to the edge. Top of spine to edge it should be 25-26mm (very close to an inch).

The reverse side of the tang started getting stamped with "made in Spain" in 1952-so that can help you with dating.

It is a great user grade fili 14, get her honed and enjoy.

Thanks gents...I appreciate the info. Found out that it was recently restored and honed by Noah at ShaveReady. I don't use straights, acquired this via trade. Just wanted to make sure I describe it accurately in my sale thread.

Thanks again.
