I hear mike's is a great soap but ive never had a chance to try it yet. How does it compare in terms of cushion/latherability/slickness to other artisans like b&m, crsw, etc?

I have used MLS soaps and i think theyre really amazing performers (one of the best) but the soap base is awkward for me, so im still deciding whether or not i like it.

I'm sure youll enjoy the soaps!

If Mickey Lee doesn't work for you, I'm ready to trade. They are on top of my to try list.

Mike's is my favorite soap so far, if I had to pick one. I like the OCBP flavor a lot. Some people take a few shaves to dial in the lather, then it's "automatic". And some people find it really latherable immediately. I'm not sure if it's water hardness differences or what (that is, my water is pretty hard, and I did well with it right away... there's a lot of variability I guess in terms of how hard the water, how quickly added, and with what kind of brush.

I haven't tried the Mickey Lee's. There seems to have been an explosion of top of the line artisans in 2014 and a little before. Mickey Lee's is one on my "curious about" list, too

What do you not like about the base? I cant seem to pick up on any distinct scent that emanates from the soap base in my tubs

Personally, I find Mikes to lean heavily toward the slick end of the spectrum, with less cushion than some others. The lather I get with it is fairly low and slippery, kind of like the Fat. This is not to say that it's lacking in cushion. I just can't get a super cushiony lather the way it's easy to do with, for example, Castle Forbes.

I had a tough time with Mike's when I got it initially, but grew to like it.

IMHO - Mike's is at the high end of the superfat spectrum. My lather is not very productive and I end up using more grams/shave than any of my other soaps. On the other hand, my Mike's shaves are some of the most protective and skin is smooth and free of irritation after shaving.

If you like Mystic Waters - try Mike's. Both are protective & moisturizing - but tough to lather right.

When I want a soap that is protective, moisturizing AND easy to lather - I go to PannaCrema or MWF.

I have everyone of Mikes scents in the tins. His soaps are easily one of the top soaps in my soap collection. I think you will be pleased. My suggestion would be to load your brush heavily and gradually add a lot of water. I think people that have had a hard time lathering Mikes don't do these two things.

Shocked anyone likes his Barbershop scent. By far the worst scent I've tried in shavedom, and I'm are talking like 150 products by now.
