So, I had a Type E before which I let go. (Actually they had a Type E, also one with a blue handle.) I liked the shaves, let it go anyway because I didn't want to fuss with three kinds of blades. Figure I'll give it another go.

What's a good starting dial setting?

Congratulations, Steve! Lovely find! Smile
I would set it at 3 and have a go. I love the look of those injectors, but despised the blades and could never get a smooth shave no matter how much I tried! Blush

Congrats on the find! I'd say start at 3 or 4

I have the exact same razor. I started about 5 or so, but have settled on #3 as my daily setting for good shaves. In my opinion this thing can be way more aggressive than a type E. I wouldnt have expected this before I got it but using it tells me so. Mine is always cued up and ready to go in the event I draw a bad blade and need one to reach for quickly.

On setting #3 with a P74 blade, this razor can stand ready for action for months. I would never let mine go.

I wish I could find some of those P74 blades; as it is, I'll just use the Schick blades which I've had good luck with. They last about 7 shaves, more than most of my DE blades with few exceptions.
