I ordered 120 of these blades from Amazon.com for $18.88- shipping included. I will confess that I ordered them based on the opinion of someone I respect and that knows shaving. I guess I'll find out when I give them a try tomorrow.

I'm curious about these "Made in Israel" blades. Why don't I see them mentioned here at TSN much? I have to admit, these blades are a bit of a mystery to me.

Anyone out there using these?

I use them and like em in my mild razors. In my Weber, I can get about a week per blade. In my ATT H2, they just don't seem to perform as well for me.

Personna Israeli Reds are easier to find than the Crystals.

Good score.

I've tried them. They were below average for me.

I've used this place to buy blades before making a large purchase.

Worst blade I ever tried. It made a Merkur look good.

There seem to be so many different Israeli made Personnas and it's never clear which ones are identical but relabeled. Whether Crystals or Red Personna or Viking Sword or store brand Personna, the company is so unhelpful in letting us know which is which that we're reduced to hearsay about which products are the same or not.

Crystals work well for me and I can get up to four nice shaves out of them. I can get 1 1/2 good shaves from a Personna Red blade (3 passes ).

I liked the Israeli Red Personnas I tried in my Super Speed. Maybe even a touch more than Lab Blues. Sounds like from the discussion above that getting good ones is a roll of the dice.

Seems that way with any thread related to blades. Lol

But with Israeli blades you have a different level of confusion. An Astra or a Feather is the same even if people have different reactions to them. But often you'll see someone claiming this white box Israeli blade is the same as a Red Personna which is the same or not as a Viking Sword or a Crystal or some Euro offbrand. Or they're not. And as far as I know, there are no definitive answers to these questions. Same factory, same blade? Or same factory, different machine or different coating?

I'd love to hear someone give answers from a definitive source but I've seen contradictory versions on lots of them.

Will Rogers said we shouldn't watch sausage or laws being made in Washington. Why bother with these? They are not shatnez or kosher.

There's the rub.
I love Crystals. They are one of my favorite blades, and I get a solid 6 shaves with them. The longest lasting blade I own. But if I want them, then that's what I order; Crystals. Not any of the blades said to be Israeli Personna, or Personna Red, or anything everyone says the Crystals are "the same as". With Personna, good luck if you try that, IMO. When I want the Crystals, I buy the Crystals. These, and nothing else.

Agreed.  All of the "same as" or "similar to" rhetoric is straight BS.  Some drug-store-brand blades are "Made in Israel" but they're not the same.
Crystal blades are super smooth, sharp and long-lasting.
Cheapest I've found them was on the bay.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/171324529099
$13.99 for 100 (free US shipping).

Crystal / Super + Platinum are one type of blade from the Nazareth plant. There are at least two other blades produced there: Personna Platinum Chrome (Reds) & Double Edge (Boots, Tesco).

Crystal is not a brand owned by Personna, the Super + Platinum blades are sourced from Israel & put in blister packs by Personna USA for a private label customer. The Super + Platinum are also imported in white boxes of 100 blades. There have also been some recent changes. The blades are no longer stamped "Made in Israel" & some runs were produced with plain white wrappers.

Maggards is a good source for the Crystals.  I also like the Viking Sword blades.  Not quite as smooth or lasting as the Med Preps but a good blade.

BTW I bought mine at Connaught shaving from the UK, the user suffolksupplies above is the owner I think.

Could not say anything bad about that company, prices and shipping costs are a bargain for orders from the EU. You might want to have a repeated look at their site...two thumbs up....Smile
