Hi fellow shavers.

I am a 41 year old shaving newbie from the northern Sweden.

My story started in the beginning of December -14 when I after 25 years of painfull shaving decided to look for alternatives to the multiple blade cartridges and caned foams. My first thought was to go for a high end electric razor but due to lack of money and the fact that my father was the owner of two vintage DE razors made the choice easy. I went for the DE razors and bought a pack of Wilkinson Sword to try them out, still with caned foam.

My first shave was a blend of fear and pleasure but when the shave was completed and the results was better than ever my path for future shaves was set, DE shaving is the shit. I have now almost a mount of shaving behind me, shaves of different qualities and pleasures.

At this moment I have only tried the Wilkinson blades. I have tried both of the vintage razors given to me by my father, one Matador De Lux and one Swing, both Swedish razors. I have had good shaves and bad shaves but decided to order a shaving brush, Semouge OC boar cherry from VintageScent, and shaving soap, Cella from Connaught Shaving. I also ordered a sample pack of blade from Connaught Shaving. The new equipment has not yet arrived, I have high hopes to find a blade that adress me and that the soap further will increase my shaving experience.

The shaves so far has caused some irritation at the lower part of my neck which always has been very sensitive. Hopefully I will find equipment and a technique that will give a shave completely without irritation.

On this forum I hope to find information about products and the opportunity to discuss shaving.

Yours, PM

Welcome, Peter, from an Indiana member. I'm interested to hear what blades you settle on. This is the process many of us have gone through, and continue to " dial in". Really focus on good shave preparation.

Welcome to The Shave Nook, Peter, and enjoy your stay. Smile

Remember, do not use pressure when using your DE razors. Let the weight of the razor itself do the work. It's great that you are getting a sample pack of blades. Of the four main parts of shaving, the razor, the blade, the brush, and the shaving soap or cream, the blade is probably the most personal. One person may love a brand of blade while another may hate it. Also, a blade may work fine in one razor but not so great in another so give each blade a fair chance and try each in the two razors you have. All the best to you on this wonderful journey. Thumbsup
