The last few months have seen a large increase in the size of my den (which was already large). Recommendations here and elsewhere have led to me acquiring a few too many items. It's got to stop!

Ben74 indicated in one of his posts that he's limiting himself to selling stuff to buy stuff ---- I'm going to try and imitate him and see if I can hold the den at 'monetary equilibrium'..............or even shrink it.

We'll see how it goes. The only rule is that in order to buy something I have to sell something else first, so I add no money from 'outside'.

Wish me luck. Biggrin

(I'll post threads about the last few items to join the den, as I get time, this will give me an outlet for my collecting habits, in a way.)

Wow, Yohann - I wish you luck. My past attempts to do the same were, uh, short lived. Blush

I don't like the plan at all. Angry Continue to acquire more shaving supplies like your hair is on fire.

Don't worry Phil, I'll still be buying stuff from you. Biggrin

I'll just have to unload other stuff to first make the money for the inevitable Bullgoose purchase.

Just yesterday I just failed at that same attempt Facepalm

I kept myself straight for ... well ... 5 weeks.

The excuse was admirable: I dont' need another razor and I can sell this never used brit Aristocrat and It will give me a good leeway !

... my wife said ... "There we go again ... go on and fool your self ... you'll never sell it"

She is rigth !A6 Now that I have it, I look at it and just can't sell it Undecided

Yohann, I commend your endeavour and wish you every luck.

The idea has worked for me. I have sacrificed many brushes in my collection in order to acquire just a few new ones.

The plan is not to stop purchasing new items, but to stop investing further funds into this pursuit.

It is a win win situation all round. I'm reducing my stockpile of unused brushes, other members are afforded the opportunity to try brushes at a reduced cost and I don't feel guilty about new purchases.

Ben -

Yep, that's what I'm aiming at --- an equilibrium, not a cessation of purchases. Smile

In my case, the items sold are more likely to be straight razors, but it's the same thing otherwise. Also, I've used every item I have. No unused stuff here.

The fact that I had unused items is probably clear indication that I have (or had) far too many...

Equipoise is my goal too.

Yohann, you've inspired me to do the same thing. My shave den isn't large by any means at all. But still, 10-12 soaps and creams are going to last me a LONG time. So I'm going to equalize my den software.

Also, after I pick up a synthetic brush, I'm done there too.

Wait stop and think...the Mayan calendar ends soon...so if they are correct you can start over in the next phase.....use all the previous purchases as research for the few perfect tools you will need or as they say in the crime movies" forgetaboutit..."either way good luck and you can send everything to my cave for safe keeping.LightbulbLightbulbLightbulbCool
