Well that certainly reminds you of the "no pressure" rule.

I used it today on a Fat Tech handle. First pass used my usual pressure from the rather forgiving Aristocrat Junior...yikes! Very rough. Second ATG pass used very very light pressure, still cut hair and made a racket but not nearly as rough.

I'll try it again soon to see if different techniques make a difference.

Ahh got ya. Mine just arrived today and I pared it with my Maggard MR5 handle that arrived as well. Gonna give it a run tomorrow and will have to remember to go easy easy lol.

No, I have the Merkur 39C Vorschlaghammer (Mjölnir?). That seems less aggressive to me!

The post office says my Weber is due to arrive here yesterday, for what it's worth. No tracking information in a few days (e.g. wasn't scanned at post office or depot) which is not good news.

Two more days of the 102:

Yesterday I continued with the Silver Blue blade, and used a handle from the EJ89. Forgot how slippery that handle could be. Shave was still pretty rough, I felt like I had to use alum after the shave, overall quality was still meh.

Today I put in a fresh 7 O'clock Blue (my favorite blade, sadly out of production) and used a Tuckaway handle. My BRW handles continue to mock me for not fitting. I do N-S passes on my checks (WTG N-S and ATG S-N), and the Aristocrat Jr does a fine job. I did the same thing with the slant and while WTG was fine, ATG felt like it wasn't cut much at all. I tried another ATG pass with a different angle, better but not BBS. Also got a few weepers, probably because I was doing three passes and my face usually prefers that I do two and stop. Perhaps it misses the Junior, who knows.

Several handles will arrive this week that will work with the head - a Weber bulldog, a rose gold R41, and an ikon bulldog courtesy of cessnabird. I may wait to try them for the weekend since I like a really good shave during the week and also weepers are kind of a PITA to deal with when I have to meet my carpool. I'm hoping one of these will make the razor sing, especially the iKon bulldog. I may try another blade like the 7 O'clock Blacks (dear god talk about aggressive) or break out a Bleue Extra or something. And of course continue changing my technique and angle. Too many people like the 102 for me to give up after three shaves.

Second shave with mine today. First shave yesterday I paired the head with my Maggard MR5 handle. Realized quickly that the handle was too much for that head but finished out. Shaved again today and paired the head with my rose gold R89 handle. Muuuuuuch better results. I had a better overall feel of the razor and a much smoother shave. Not yet dethroning my R89 but I guess time will tell.

Congrats Ben, I think that this $50 slant can beat efficiency of many high end . My experience was terrific with feather blades. Please let us know your experience

Shaved with mine again this morning but this time using an Astra SP. The blade toned it down a bit and made the shave more comfortable. Probably the closest, smoothest shave I have had yet. I shaved at 5AM this morn and at 8PM i'm just now starting to feel the slightest bit of stubble. First time I have ever gone this long staying this smooth!

Just a wonderful razor.  The mild efficient head combined with a sharp blade works wonders.  The 102 has become a favorite DE and I am reaching for it more than the Mongoose these days.  Smooth as silk.

Just shaved with it now.

Mounted on the matching satin iKon bulldog handle it looked a treat! Paired with a Super Iridium blade, the shave was great. Not aggressive, very smooth and yet pleasantly efficient.

Must confess I am well impressed!

I see the word "efficient" used a fair amount in this thread.  We must be using different razors.  Granted, I've only used the 102 twice now, but efficient is just about the last word that I'd use to describe it.  It's even milder (more inefficient) than the 101 that I traded for the 102.  I'm using an Astra SP blade now, and I'll try a Feather blade next, to see if the performance improves, but I'm not terribly optimistic.  For someone who likes aggressive/efficient razors, I don't see this fitting the bill at all.

Weird, I found it incredibly aggressive. I don't pretend to have a collection of 2011 R41s and Barbasol floating heads and other Weapons of Mass Hair Removal hidden in my bunker, but it sure felt like I had to be very careful with it. I mean, I used the Weber soon after and by comparison it was "what, you half asleep and no coffee yet? no worries I got this in two passes plus touch-up" which is all I ask of a razor.
