Just want to say hello to everyone here at TSN. I live in Ames Iowa, and own and operate (with my wife), The GROOM ROOM... a modern barbershop and salon for men. I have been wet shaving with DE's, straights, and SE's for a number of years now. And yes, we offer Hot Towel Luxury Shaves at The GROOM ROOM.

Very glad to be a part of the discussions here on The Shave Nook. I have quite a few DE, SE, and straights that I use for my daily shave rotations (both new and vintage). Way too many soaps, creams, brushes, aftershaves, etc... (after all, it's all research and development, right?).

Anyway, glad to be a part of the goings-on here.

Just curious, I don't think you'll mind me asking. When your shop does a shave what does the barber use as the tool?

Good question! Iowa barber laws require us to use a 'shavette' style straight razor, which accepts a disposable blade. The razor I use is an all stainless steel Dovo Shavette, and Feather blades.

I'm gonna have to look into the cost of a plane ticket to Iowa. I'd love to go to a genuine barbershop again. Wink
