We had our first decent snowfall. About 5 inches of wet sticky stuff. The best kind for visuals as it sticks to everything.

The house lit up after the plowing was done. Snow looks especially serene at night.(I know the Christmas wreaths are still up Blush )

We got 3 more inches overnight. I spent this morning removing that and pushing back plow piles. We are getting a blizzard on Tuesday Thumbup

Wow! So thats where winter went. Here in Edmonton AB it looks like spring!
It makes me wonder how many times the snow will come and go this year.

Great pics guys.

I love the look of snow and the quietness of it. I've grown to dislike the removal of it.

But this year we have nothing to complain about here in Central Maine. I had to plow once early in the snow season, then I plowed a 2nd time to allow the mailman to come in. The snow on the driveway wasn't bothering us. Today I drove around the driveway to pack down the 1 1/2" we got yesterday. The biggest problem is the ice under the snow. But by tomorrow the new snow will have welded onto the ice and all will be well for walking again. Yesterday we were taking baby steps. The dry loose snow over the ice was worse than walking on grease. But neither of us took a header.

Yup, no complaints at all... so far. Of course it can all change in days if the weather patterns change. But we only have one really cold month left, March sees the sun getting high in the sky and much warmer. Anything can happen, but soon winters back will be broken.

A blizzard is on the way to the Northeast. Hopefully everyone will get through it okay.

As beautiful as freshly fallen snow is to look at, and walk in, I have to admit I do not miss living in snow country anymore.

Phil and Ravi, those photos are beautiful.  Brian, your comments remind me why I don't miss living in it.

Beautiful pics! I love being outside during a good snowfall. Everything is so silent and peaceful its almost like the world just stops for a moment and lets you enjoy.

I can appreciate that Freddy, but our summers are exquisite! Nothing is free; ever. We buy our fantastic summers with our winters.

The ideal would be a winter place in a warm spot, and a summer place on a Maine lake. Of course a caretaker in both places to look after them when one isn't there. That takes $. OK, so I live in Maine year round. That tells you something. Actually, I like the fact that not everyone does or can live here. The folks who don't really belong in Maine live in our few cities where their needs are supplied by others. I couldn't live that way.

I've given this a great deal of thought.... when we get a storm everything remains standing. In other places when major storms hit nothing remains. I like our storms. The price to keep our population low is small.

I've considered moving, since I can go anywhere. But I can't think of anywhere that I'd rather be.

I'm hearing varying reports from 6-12 inches to 12-24 inches of snow over the next 2 days in SE PA.

The talk here is about an "historic" and "catastrophic" blizzard. Just made a batch of chili and ready for it!

Yes, talk of 31 inches here on Long Island! I'm sure my job will want me to go in tomorrow night but I'm hoping they close early.

Guys, I don't know what to say. It's absolutely beautiful. I think I would give up trying to drive though. Just beam me up and over where ever I need to go Scottie.

Should the blizzard hit as strongly as predicted then may all of you just stay safe and warm.

Y'all stay safe up there in that weather.

I was supposed to head to Boston today and then drive to Hanover, NH.  That trip was canceled by my company.  I don't know if this Texas boy can handle that much snow! LOL

Phil and Ravi, lovely photos. There is something magical about a *perfect* snow picture...

Phil, Beta says he would love to swap places with your daughter under that tractor bucket. According to him, it looks like too much fun Aaaaa

Maybe it is just me, but I read that as, "Ya'll better stock up on (shave) soap." the first time I read it Blush

I am one of the few people who like winter. I love the cold, the snow and winter sports. This is probably because I lived most of my life in a really hot area (India) - I had my fill of warm weather then.

I haven't taken any pictures of the snow this year, but I may have to after the storm we are experiencing at the moment.
