We want to thank everyone for their patience this past week, during which time TSN has updated site software and introduced a new look to the forum.
Our IT team continues to adjust and fine tune settings, with the goal of optimizing the forum site further.

The current default theme for the forum is 'Shavenook Classic'.
There is now a new alternative theme called 'Shavenook D.C.'

Key features of 'Shavenook D.C.' site theme :

Header bar is changed : instead of a line of tabs, there is a dropdown menu that includes links (user settings, online users, profile, buddy list, new posts, subscribed threads, PM, etc)
On a smaller screen the static bar is significantly shorter vertically
The pagination is given a bigger click area and a jump to page dropdown
The PMs and latest and forum display are "zebra striped" to help with browsing
The postbits are refactored with PMs on the postbit in the same line as the other post buttons
Date of post moved to the left of the postbit and uses a larger font.

The PM section now has a dropdown list to go to folders
PMs now display who you sent the PM to when viewing PM
Buddy list now shows the open requests at the top instead of the bottom so it is less confusing.

Padding reduced where possible to give more data per page.

We encourage members to try the new theme out, and see which they prefer.
As always, we welcome constructive input regarding site software and themes, and will make accommodations and changes where feasible.

Thank you.

Update 1/27/15 :

The 'old' Shavenook Classic theme has now been swapped over to Shavenook D.C. Classic theme .. It SHOULD be seamless.
If anyone is seeing anything weird, they should clear their browser cache.

The choices for site theme now are
1. Shavenook D.C. Classic
2. Shavenook D.C.

With the majority of my TSN viewing being mobile I prefer the DC look on my phone. Better fit and more of the page is shown. Have not dug to deep yet. That's just a first impression. Thanks for the update!

This is a good alternative. Subtle, but significant differences. I can't decide which I like better...  Doubt
Is there a difference in the red and blue arrows on some of the threads? And what do they mean?

Representing the Luddite; do I need to adjust my rooftop antanae for the monochrome T.V. set minority- I like the new format very much- as I discover features like a primal man tasting leaves with the potential of food or poisonous results.

Perhaps Lee will correct me if I'm wrong ..
Red arrow : takes user to last unread post in the specified thread
Blue arrow : takes user to last post in the specified thread

I like the new theme, but after trying it, I went back to the Blue theme.  I think I've finally got used to the new site and the Blue.

Thanks for the continued updates though!  As much as we all complain, we really do appreciate it!  Wink

Bad news blue lovers; running two template sets is a lot of extra work; DC will be replacing the other themes, but will be provided in other colour sets.

Haha!

I asked the same question a little while ago.

Official word is that it stands for 'Director's Cut'

I don't know a darn thing about computer programing but it seems to me the current classic and blue should be dumped before you start that. Otherwise the list will be long and confusing.

One theme, different colors.
