Canada Post has been getting on my nerves the last few weeks.

I got a notice in December that they wanted to put a community mail box on my side yard and that I could call them to discuss this. I called the number and left a message, no returned call.

Skip to the second week in January and I get a letter saying that the mail box is going in on my side yard. Call this number and they will answer any questions I have. So I call and the person I talk to is not the right person, leave my info and they will get back to me. A few days later I get a auto generated email saying that the matter is closed. No call, no hey whats your concern? At the bottom of the email it said to reply if there are any further questions.

I emailed back... now I wait.

Second small annoyance. I am awaiting a package from the US. It came into Toronto and made it to Vancouver, passing its destination along the way. The waiting game continues.

Gotta love the postal service.  Dodgy  The package is no big deal but the mail box is something I don't want.  Sad

Thanks for reading my small vent session.

Well, I have had good luck when shipping stuff to Canada and receiving stuff from Canada.  The mailbox is another issue.  I would not want it either.  But it sounds like the Canada Post operates like the US Postal Service.  We are at their mercy and there is not much we can do about it.

Yes, The package going to Vancouver is a rare thing. This is the first mis-sorted (their description) package I have had.

The community mail box is the real issue I have with them. The timing is just unfortunate.

Jim, the USPS is doing the same thing here in the United States, as far as community mailboxes go.  Fortunately, where the USPS placed mine, I am happy.  As it turns out, it's at the foot of my stairs making it convenient for me.

As a business decision I completely get and support them. I'm actually a little supprised that it took this long.

Where they loose me is I don't really want to look off my deck at the back of the box. This will probably lead to me planting more bushes for the privacy... First world problems right?!? Blush

Good luck with this issue, Jim and, maybe, you could start keeping beehives next to the mailboxes!  Angel

You could start charging people a fee for encroaching on your property.

Hahahaha! I would never do that, but I would think of doing it to get enough complaints to have the box moved!  Biggrin

Sorry about your problem but now is the time to try and get the mail slot that is best for you.  I got stuck with a low one and everyday I have to bend down to check if there is mail.  So I only check the mail twice a week.  The higher ones all went to some 'flipper' that owned several houses, as she said 's$&%w' the homeowners.  Since the box is on your property think about what is easy for you.  Good luck.

Canadian  postal rates can be a deal breaker when contemplating a purchase.  I pif'd a couple of things and the recipient had to pay a fee because it was a gift.
