Hi all,

I am a beginner from West Palm Beach. I get a hot shave at the barber shop regularly but decided to jump in myself. Oddly enough I've just purchased a new set of kitchen knives and the retailer I bought them from has a nice selection of Japanese straight razors on his site which got me thinking of making the jump. It was decided after looking at the pictures here and I'll soon be joining the ranks. I'm quite familiar with some things I've read about here, I've been using Proraso for probably 15 years. I'll be scouring the site for ideas over the next couple of weeks before making purchases. Thanks for all the great user-generated content and I hope I can help others someday.

Sorry for the crummy weather up north. For what it's worth I had to kick the heat on this morning as the house was only 68 when we woke up. So I feel your pain, sort of. Biggrin

I have to say this is a great forum. I am a moderator on an international car forum with 150,000+ members and The Shave Nook parallels that one. I really appreciate the warm welcome I've received and am amazed at the expertise and craftsmanship I've seen in just a few hours of browsing around.
