I didn't have a horse in the race at yesterday's SuperBowl, but it was nice to finally have a really entertaining game - after a slow start.

I live in New England, but I don't care much for the NFL, and only watched the SB because my wife turned it on. She's from Seattle, but has also lived on the East Coast for many, many years, so she was torn in her loyalties. The game was pretty good, though.

I cannot understand what the Seattle coaches were thinking on that last goal-line series. My wife and I were expecting them to run it in. NE didn't seem to be able to stop Seattle's short run game, so why not. The pass and subsequent interception took us by surprise. As we know, when you pass, three things can happen, and two of them are bad.

Unlike most people, we didn't watch any of the ads - we always mute them. I also switched to PBS at halftime, so I didn't watch that as well. SuperBowl halftime entertainment cannot match with 'Antiques Roadshow'. Smile

I'll have my more developed thoughts later but for right I've gotten about 4 hours of sleep so this snow storm is giving me some good recuperation time! After Kearse made that catch I felt like I was going to throw up (shades of Tyree and Manningham all over again). I keep re-watching the ending and reading recaps and expecting it to turn out differently, but excited all over again when it doesn't! In case anyone is wondering I'm a Pats fan.

I'm actually shocked that Seattle didn't win that game.

I picked New England to win, too...

Philly will gladly take Maxwell & Lynch off your hands for the 2015-2016 season.

Born in New England, lived in Seattle for many many years, really had no dog in this fight but a little tired of some (not all!) obnoxious Seahawks fans waving 12th man flags everywhere and generally acting cocky. Of course in Boston I'm sure I would have been equally tired of the fans there as well.

I did not watch the game, just the highlights (lowlights?) but watching the final play - I honestly do not understand why you'd ever throw a pass on the 2nd down with 1 yard to go. There's speculation that Carroll wanted Russell Wilson to get MVP instead of Lynch, maybe that's true. It makes more sense than Carroll's claims that he wanted to pass all along. Some people blame Wilson but even the best QB gets intercepted.

In the end, Good Coaching beat Bad Coaching.

I think they'll both hit free agency, and Philly is BADLY in need of 2 cornerbacks and 1 safety.

I believe LeSean McCoy's contract is coming up, and he's already stated that he's open to restructuring his contract, just not willing to take a pay cut. Personally, I'd try use McCoy as trade bait if they can get another solid RB, like Lynch. I prefer Lynch over McCoy because he's more consistent and he's a TD machine - something that McCoy has struggled with in the consistency department.

Kind of like in the Green Bay Vs Seattle game. In all reality if it were not for some bad coaching at the end, Green Bay would have been in the SB.

Oh well, as they say, there is always next year.

Johnny-

It looked to me like Green Bay thought they had won the game, and stopped playing with 5 min on the clock. They were the better team for most of that game.

The best line of the day came from Donald Trump when he said something to the effect that perhaps Marshawn Lynch should start talking and say what a moron the coach was for calling the pass play.  I have been around for all 49 super bowls and this call is the most confusing ending......why not give the ball to the meanest guy on the field??????

The New England fans are so grateful they did not give it to Marshawn.

Agreed. I really don't want us to lose beast mode though, I'd love for him to retire here.

I can't see this helping the Seahawks keeping Lynch. Maybe won't hurt but it's going to be a sore point.

I still don't understand Pete C's choice of play.  2nd down and you call a pass play?  My 9 year old son was screaming "why did he throw it...they are at 1 yd line"?   Seattle is is 2nd favorite team.  The Washington Redskins being first!  It was an exciting game regardless of who won!!  Now the long wait until the next seasonSad

I pulling hard for NE.  I'm not a fan of NE but I hate watching Carroll chomping on the sidelines and I can't stand Sherman's ego.  When Butler stole the ball I was yelling as loud as I would have were it was my team.

That was a nasty looking break Lane got.   Didn't even realize he was hurt that bad until I saw the pictures this morning.

Sherman actually grew up a lot this season. I'm proud of him. Though i love my hawks, i never appreciated the mess he talked. But i see the grown man in him coming out.
