Poll: How many passes and what kind of shave are you getting?

Looking at Leisureguy's poll, I wondered: some people do one pass, some people do four. But some people are happy with a DFS while others love that BBS.

So how many passes and what kind of shave are you getting?

(EDIT: also just round up, so if you do 2.5 passes just say 3.)

My three passes are resulting in BBS more often now.

So, about 80% of the respondents get a BBS.  Hmmmm, I guess that sounds reasonable.  Winky

I look in the mirror and tell my beard to go back in and it does. That's how a real man gets a bbs.

I have to do 3 passes with touch-ups to get a DFS! I'll never get a BBS shave with my wiry and coarse whiskers, but I am just fine with this! Biggrin

Based on threads I've read about the definition of BBS vs. DFS, the definition varies depending on who you talk to.  To me, as DFS is not being able to feel any whiskers at all when stroking your face with the grain.  BBS means not feeling any whiskers at all when stroking against the grain.

3 passes to get what most consider the definition of a BBS.

3 pass DFS/BBS IF I'VE SKIPPED A DAY, and which was my razor/blade of choice.

2 pass DFS/BBS if I shaved yesterday, and depending on which razor/blade I choose.

SWMBO does 2 pass BBS shave on my dome 3x a week.

I started out with 4, going WTH, XTG, XTG, ATG. After a year or so, I switched to 3, going WTH, XTG, ATG and thought I had it mastered.

For the past year or maybe more, I can get away with 2, going WTG, ATG.

Fewer passes equals less irritation for me and it seems to be just as close as doing more.

This is my experience as well, I have a feeling most of us agree looking at the poll results so far.

I voted 2 passes for DFS or less, but really it's DFS or better.  I always get DFS in 2 passes at least.

+1  Although I need a little cleanup on the chin in addition to the 2 passes.

I find the results interesting so far because rarely, I'll see someone (not on TSN) suggest a four-pass shave for a newbie, which IMHO is a recipe for irritation and weapers. Interesting to see few  actually do it.

I used to go with three passes when I first started wet shaving. Now I only do two passes, WTG the grain and ATG on my cheeks and just two WTG passes on my neck. I think it definitely varies from person to person depending on their skin.
