Don't buy GFT soaps, just don't.

I had one and it became the most expensive bath soap I ever had.

For shaving they don't create any lather, there's no protection, no glide, nothing at all. Run from it.

I just don't get it. If isr not broke don't fix it. Why do companies mess with formulations when the product is already great?

the soaps are not made in-house, so if they change the supplier, you get a different soap with the same scent.
It shows a lack of product support

I have a Violets soap that lathers very well.  I'm not sure if it is the current formula, but have attached a picture of the ingredients list and batch number in hopes that it may help.

I have a current formulation that I can't even use to wash my face bc it is so drying. (Lack of shaving lather is well documented, so that goes without saying)
I can only use it as a body bath soap.

I have a Sandalwood by GFT that lathers great and smells fantastic!  Does that mean it's an older formulation?  I don't know... I bought it from a fellow member a couple of years ago.... anyone know what the difference is in the ingredient list so we can know which one we're getting?

If you really want GFT products try the creams, they're hard to beat

Dave, your formulation is the older, good one. The last two digits of the batch number(06) represent the year of manufacture. Anything up to and including 09 will be excellent. 2010 was the year things changed, so a batch number ending in 10 could be good or bad. The way to differentiate here is to look at the first ingredient. Good batches, like yours, will have potassium palmate as the first ingredient. The newer, bad formulations will have sodium palmate as the first ingredient. Hope this information is useful to all.

Like I've read on a thread somewhere in this forum... here's a little mnemonic regarding those ingredient lists:

If the first component is Potassium palmate - Perfect! Smile
If the first component is Sodium palmate - it Sucks! Confused

hey wayne, why do you ask this? it's certainly well and fine to ask for others' opinion, but you have already started another thread where you write: "i got one trumpers soap.. coconut.. love that..."

since you already love your trumper soap, i find it odd to ask if it lathers well, if it has protection/cushion etc. i encourage you to write what you love with that soap, and what other soaps you like - and also please introduce yourself in 'introductions' Wink

I love the Harris soaps and the fat.. Lather, shave and post shave all great with both.. The fat probably the best post shave out of everything I've tried to date ... The Harris Arlington is also fantastic... Getting the Windsor as soon as it's back in stock at my local grooming joint so looking forward to that
