Hi folks

I've recently acquired a puck of the old formula English Fern.

What I want to do is split some off for a mate and then press it into a wooden bowl I have.

Can somebody who has some suggest the best method?

Thanks

Grate the puck with a cheese grater, then press the gratings into your container.

Thanks.  I thought that might be the way but was hoping to avoid it

No alternatives to grating and pressing?

Apart from anything else I can just see a percentage being wasted.

You could always saw the puck in half.

That's the most common way. Many people grate Speick and La Toja shave sticks and press them into a container.

I'm sharing SOME with a mate - not generous enough to give him half Smile

BTW - another suggestion I've had - shave off (if needed) any around the side to make it fit the new bowl and the remainder from the the bottom of the puck where it will not be seen and press the shavings into a container for my mate.

I get the puck in my bowl looking good and he gets the shavings pressed together.  Seems like a winner to me!
